(Urgent) AS-Level subject choice confusion. Only days left to change :(

    Hi all,
I just started Year 12 and picked Bio, Chem, Maths and Music with the intent of studying medicine. However, I don't think I could do either maths or music to A2 (I don't 'enjoy' maths, I just want to understand it at a better level than GCSE). I love music but I don't think I could quite hack it at A2 (well, not to the extent that a medicine applicant would need).

So my question is, would my application be weakened by dropping Maths for Philosophy or History (giving me 2 sciences and 2 contrasting subjects)?

Also, is it normal for me to look at the philosophy past papers and see them as ludicrously difficult?

My GCSE's went very well so I'm not too fussed about the relative difficulty of subjects as I believe I can work had enough to force myself to do well in anything.

Thanks for taking the time to read this
    any help is greatly appreciated!

    Hey mandeep1201,

Welcome to the New Media Medicine forum!

I think this depends on the universities that you choose to study at. Here is a table of uk medical school admission criteria. You can see the minimum academic requirements listed.

Medical School A Level Requirements - The Student Room.

Make sure whatever subjects you choose fit the university admissions criteria that you think you will apply to.

    good luck,

    Dr j
