    Anyone studying the IB?

    Heya

I was wondering whether anybody else studies/studied the International Baccaluareate, and what subjects etc they are taking.

Im a Second Year IB Student (applying for Medicine), studying Higher Level Biology, Chemistry and English Literature, and Standard Level Psychology, Maths Studies and Italian.

Those of you who do take the IB and have applied this year, where did you apply, and why? Ive heard many IB Students applied to Hull-York (Which I also did), and was wondering if this is true.

Hi im in year 11 and looking at taking IB in sixth form, i was wondering whether this is a good idea, eg will the unis be less/more likely to give an offer to someone with IB rather than A levels, or whether it makes no difference?

I wouldn't say there more likely to give you an offer, although they understand if your on track for a 45 then you very academically able. However, I also think IB offers are more difficult to get than A level ones, but maybe thats just me.
    2010 Entry: Kings College London

    A levels - A*A*A*A*A
    UkCAT - 732.5
    BMAT - 8.3 6.7 10.5

Hey I am a second year IB student and applied for 2010 entry... I chose your same highers and have history, maths methods and French A2 for standard.
The only advice I can give you is only apply to BMAT unis if your level of physics and maths is good enough. Not having taken physics at the IB and having maths standard I struggled with section two.
Otherwise I agree with DLS IB offers are harder to get so you might want to consider that when applying. Getting 38 points with chem bio and english higher is not that easy, so you might want to consider carefully where to apply.
You can see in my signature where I applied, but if I were you I would focus on the 35-36 points unis...Uni selection also depends on personal preference and UKCAT score so take that into account too when making your choice Oh, and do as much voluntary work & work experience as you can, that can really boost your application!!

Otherwise good luck, the IB is hell, but worth it in the end. I don't think they're more likely to give you offers, but it will certainly play in your favour eventually.
