Any Point Doing Full Further Maths?

I'm finishing my chemistry A level by january - meaning i have 8 extra free periods a week after january. I got given the option to use those lessons as extra maths lessons and get an A2 in further maths - but as i'm applying for medicine, is their any point?

Well... I see you're applying to Cambridge, and they DO count it separate to maths, so that may give you a small advantage there. As long as it doesn't affect your other grades, and provided you will be motivated to work, I don't see why you shouldn't do it really.

I'm just doing AS, as it doesn't count as an extra science subject (at anywhere I'm applying to), but it helps with showing you have a capacity for "sustained and intense work" (taken from oxford website)

Ah, i see, well at the moment, i'm down for just the AS. I just wanted to know before i went and put it in my SAQ - turns out that i should just mention in the 'other details' section of my SAQ (according to my teachers), that i'm considering it. (plus its a good way of mentioning the fact i'm finishing chemistry early)

I was pretty sure (almost positive) that Oxford considers Further Maths an extra science subject.

you seem like a bright person, so it probably won't disturb your other subjects

    thanks!

i do extra curricular stuff (like sports and music etc), but its such a lottery nowadays, especially with more medical applicants with each year. I think i regret picking the 4 universities that i did now...

Well my choices are probably equally difficult, several people have told me I'm crazy but I'm happy because I picked 5 unis I like as opposed to ones that might be less competitive. I'm sure you'll do fine because your grades are so good
