i fink you've got me wrong. i love poshie students.
wiffout being at university and med skool, i'd never get the chance to 'ang wif them (eg. i've never met a posh pakistani or posh black guy until i got here, but now i'm 'ere theres ONLY posh pakis and posh black guys...would you believe? its like going thru the looking glass such a brilliantly unique and cloistered world i've never found in the world at large) and i find they provide me endless opportunities for fun which i wouldnt want to miss for the world.
i dont really 'ave a stance on specifically public school, you'll be dissapointed to 'ear (although i fink its tragic that a tenth of the resources spent individually by a lot of my fellows in med school would get ten other less fortunate peeple into med school. i'd never be for me to enforce such an action, and besides that would mean the poshie wouldnt get in, so they ardly would commit to it, thats understandable. self indulgement first before elping others isnt such a bad philosophy ).Last edited by Gizmo says -; 07-08-2009 at 04:41 PM.

what she said XD
@thread starter: some people say that unis have a certain numbe rof places allocated for private candidates whilst others say that they do not. I personally believe that although going to a private school will make it more likely that you'll get better grades (obviously its not certain that you will), i've heard that receiving too much help can actually be bad for you when it comes to actually being on the course. A lot of private school pupils will have been used to getting a lot of help in comparison to pupils who went to a fairly average/below average school, and so one might expect the private school candidate to struggle with medicine more than the other pupils. Interviewers may consider this when choosing which students to accept and which to decline but overall I doubt it would make THAT much of a difference. I personally applied to grammar schools instead of private schools since the standards are high, they are experienced in sending pupils to medicine, and you do not receive an excess amount of help. But i'm sure other people will disagree with me XD
