Mm yeah, makes sense. Although i think 99% will still want to prove themselves, and most will know it anyway so why not put it down.

Chemistry, biology, maths, further maths and physics. You must do these or you won't get in.

Alternatively, you could use your intuition and either 1) hit the search button with something like "A-level subjects" typed in, or 2) sift through some of the previous threads without the help of the search function. Not exactly science of the rocket.

Regarding A-Level choices, which is a better option out of geography or psychology? My friend did w/e at a hospital and was speaking to the chairman, and he said that taking geography is absolutely useless and you're better of taking something like sociology.

Out of the two though, wouldn't geography be better than psychology?
    GCSE predicted
    A*A*A*A*A*A*A*A*A*A*AAB

    GCSE gained so far
    Core science; A* (a*a*aa)
    Maths; Module 8 - b (full marks) and Module 9 - a (142/149)
Art; Surrealism coursework and final piece - a

A-level subject choice counts for so little, it's really not worth worrying about which is better or worse.

Take the subject you feel you'd stand a better chance of getting an A in. That's what actually matters at the end of the day.

Because foolish teachers/parents/careers advisors "inform" them about ideal A-level combinations that are often out-dated or wrong and consisting of subjects that may not even me necessary (i.e. the whole 'you need maths and/or physics to do medicine').

There seems 2 have been a lot of debate about the whole A* thing. My year was the 1st year 2 have A*s at A level and since Sept (2008) my careers teacher has been hasseling universities 2 decide wher they stand on the grade and still hasnt got a proper answer. She said most of them are too anxious about commiting to a certain criteria in relation to the A*. The general vibe at the minute is that the majority of universities arent going 2 specify that they require A* candidates. I've been told that for at least applicants for 2010 entry, the fact that the A* exists wont make a difference and the entry requirements will stay as they are (prob AAA). This is because you cant get A* as AS level so universities wont know for another year how many people will get an A* so they cant state that you need (for e.g) 2A* and an A if the majority of students cant get the A*. So until next year we prob wont actually get much info from universities

    Hope this made sense!

    I don't think you'll be getting the A*, no.

Am I right in thinking you'll be applying for 2011 entry? If there are any changes to the entry grades they'll show at around the beginning of next year.

Hopefully it won't be anything too drastic but with all the competition you can guarantee they will do something to whittle it down.

    It sucks.
