AS resits for A2 students!

Many subjects, if not all, have introduced new specifications for the AS students this year.

Now. My question is, what does this mean for our AS resits? If the AS students this year won't be sitting our AS resits with us, that means it will purely be A2 students. Generally, people do alot better on the second attempt of an exam. So this means that the grade boundaries will be loads higher, does it not? So a raw mark of, say, 65/70 would have got a UMS mark of 90%+, but will now probably get around 80%.

Yeah I think thats gonna happen! A similar thing happened at GCSE science.. they introduced a module thing, and triple scientists did a module in january instead of the rest of the double scientists who did it in june.. so basically the triple scientists found that the grade boundary was so high, and hardly any got A*s! Which suckedddddddd really!

But then again, the people re-sitting, generally are B grades down to U grades.. quite alot of D's and E's... so a fair few unintelligent people! so if you just were a few marks off an A, you'll probably get the A in January cause you'll sitting the exam with dumber people than you... hahaha
if you get my drift.............
But hey ho what do I know lol!

Iwas horribly close to an A. Horribly close to an A overall at AS actually; 236/300. Same in Biology; 237/300.

We'll have to wait and see...

Omg ouch that is painfully close! They say that most people get a better grade in their re-sits so fingers crossed

Within how many weeks did Keele say they'd notify you Kinkerz?

Iam doing plenty of resits in Jan to increase my UMS

btw letting you know i think you know it already, just making sure...resitting does NOT automatically mean you will get a higher grade. Might end up getting lower...best thing reviese your notes

People doing AS resits this year are unaffected by the new AS specifications; they will sit the old exams because the exam boards are obliged to keep the old exams running until one year after the new spec comes in; so in theory you could resit next summer on the old syllabus!

at myt school we were told that it mught jusa be 2 of you in the exam room sittin AS chemistry for example, even though the year 12's may have it on the same day.. coz its a different paper to what the others are doing.. they stil set papers for students on the old specification
