Dropping biology, bad idea?
Rigght, just done my AS levels in chem, bio, history and maths. got A's in all four and was planning on dropping maths or history but they're the 2 i did best in. obviously can't drop chemistry so I was thinking biology? is this a really bad idea? none of the med schools i want to apply for say you need biol to A2 level and I think I'll be more likely to get the grades I need with the other 3 but dropping biology really doesn't look very good if I want to do medicine does it? helllppp!!

Personally you'd be mad to drop it - something like 95% of people have it at A2. If you want Oxbridge/Imperial, drop History, any other uni, I'd advise Maths, but then again I'm biased (dropping Physics and keeping History, though I'm going to see if I can do 4 A2s)
Go on your gut instinct - look at the past papers for A2 and get a feel for Yr13.LEICESTER FRESHER 2009
There are two types of people: Those that are Greek, and those that wish they were Greek.

you could always do all four - i did
yes its a lot more work and most universities don't care if you have more than three A levels but yea go with how you feel - can u handle four A2s - it would mean less free periods while your friends go into town for three hours between lessons!!!

I did Chemistry, Maths and Physics at A2, and then I returned to school for one more year to do AS Biology for the first time, and, still, with only AS Bio, I got interviews from Sheffield and PMS. If I were in your position, though... I'd recommend you drop History. For me, personally, it'd be a choice between Maths or History. And, seeing how A-Level Maths is more application than memorising, I prefer it better.

i think four isnt too bad... i did bio chem math and physics ( very traditional) . its quite manageable... i didnt have any assignments , so it was just showing up on exam day that counted

thaanks for the replies

I've decided dropping biology isn't the most sensible option..I think I'm gonna drop history.. I like maths too much! and I can't keep up all 4 as I want to pick up Perspectives on Science, anyone done this??

Hi did anyone get lower than a b in biology at as and still get a place???
And I took 5 at as nd i found that one of them always seemed to suffer, i'm taking 4 at A2 just to see how it goes (I like them too much to drop!) but as soon as one starts to suffer im dropping f.maths as most places dont except it.
These are my experiences and plans ignore them if you want!
