Choose AS Critical Thinking or AS Maths?
Hey,
I am currently doing A/s Biology, Chemistry, Physics and A2 Spanish, but next year I will be able to choose an AS and I was wondering which one to choose.
Some people think that Critical Thinking will help me more for many things such as UKCAT test and medical field.
Others tell me to choose Maths because it will help me in Physics A2 and also in medicine.
I am asking you what are your opinions and what should I choose, what do Medical School's prefer?.
Many Thanks,
MarcGCSE's:

Maths can probably help you with the A2 Physics (phew, dropped that at AS). I'd advise you to take maths.
Critical thinking may help you with the ukcat/bmat, but none of my friends which also hope to study medicine study critical thinking and our ukcat scores were fine (...). I wouldn't choose it solely because of an admissions test.Last edited by sionyn; 15-10-2007 at 12:42 AM. Reason: sp.
GCSEs: 10A*s
AS: Physics(A), Further Maths (A)
A2: Biology (A), Chemistry (A), Mathematics (A).

Marc I just answered you in private as well.
it would be wise to do only three A levels. this way you will make sure you will achieve your three A grades and you can also manage a balanced life outside school.
unis are only after your top three grades. others won't matter and they will not put you at ANY advantage.
it is stated in many of the uni prospecti.

well to get work experience in a hospital you have to contact your hospital . for WE in your GP, contact your GP! lol it's not easy to secure a place. it helps if you know someone who works there. but calling them up wouldn't hurt.
btw you can also become a volunteer at your hospital which they always looking for
about the extra curricular. well anything you do outside school is extra curricular. from winning a gold olympic medal to cooking for your mom.

I would definitely choose Maths if it was me, because I loved Maths. I think Critical Thinking is actually a subject you can do or you can't- lots of really clever people I know did really badly in it despite getting AAAA in their other subjects.

I have a related question! I will be doing AS maths, chemistry, biology and geography. Shall i stick with that or shall i do critical thinking as well? Either that, or do it with A2 as an AS when i drop geography?
