    A Level Chemistry

Hello, Looking for advice on a level Chem! I ve got a B in it in my AS levels, slighty disappointing as I worked quite hard and was hoping for an A! I wasnt far off, only 9 UMS marks, but I just scraped a c in the physical chem stuff. My Tutor says not to worry, cos i got an A in the organic module and full marks on the coursework, and she's gonna be writing all my ref next yr and she saysit'll all be fine. I cant help worrying though about how im gonna do at A2 so a bit of inof would be handy. Say if for eg, u are given an offer of AAB with no specific subject grades clarified (eg. it doesnt say A in Chemistry, if that ever happens) then are u accepted with a B in chem? cos thts my main worry, and what if youre supposed 2 get an A in chem for ur offer of AAB but get AAB with a B in Chem!

Anyway, i would add more but i gotta go, any advice appreciated thanks!

Hey, don't worry too much about the chemistry. Like you said, you were only a few marks off an A, and you should be predicted an A.

I do know that some unis want an A in chemistry, like Bristol for example, but all of that info will be on the websites, so check out the unis that you're interested in. I also know that this year Bristol did take someone who got AAB, and the B in chemistry- although not sure how common this is.

If you get an offer of AAB and the B in chemistry, then you have still met the offer, and will get the place. I know that people find chemistry hard, but for me it became a whole lot clearer in A2, and made my AS resits seem almost easy!!!

    Hope this helps

yeah i was in the same position last year. Worked reallly really hard at it this year and somehow it clicked and actually became my best subject lol - so i'm sure u can do it too!! I suggest past papers, past papers, past papers (and mark them yrself, u quickly will learn the formalic same old answers they are looking for in some types of questions). Lol but hey if yr as stubborn as me i'm sure yr worry despite wat anyone says ( i absolutely refused to believe my teacher when he said i could get an a)

I got a B last year as well (16 marks under an A) and it was my coursework that had majorly let me down. I didn't do any resits or January exams, and somehow came out with an A this year. So it definitely can be done! If you aren't confident about getting an A (like I wasn't), make sure you think about where you apply and avoid those that want an A n Chem. The only one I applied to who specified an A was Leicester. Good luck!

Yeah it can definitely be done. I got a B last year i Chem too, was 2 or 3 under, can't remember which 1, did 1 resit, and I've got an A this year.
Like kate999 said, it also for me all pulled in together more this year, as some of the topics tend to overlap and ur just developin stuff a bit.
Just check up on the places at specify an A in Chem. I kno Keele dont cos I just got asked for AAB in any, but cant' remember about the rest that I applied to, well apart from Leicester cos Miss Monkey just said. lol
