Course transfers to london ne1???

Heyy peeps this is like ma last option to get advice so im going for it!! lol!! ryt heres the situation - i have been offered a conditional offer to study medicine at manchester ths year!!! Wen i got the offer i was dead chuffed cos apparently this year they dealt out a lot of rejections - anyways ma place was confirmed this thursday after getting 4 A's. I have sorted out accomodation and stuff and was looking forward to going as it was my first option - Problem: My family are moving down to london where I come from - now this wouldnt be a problem for me except my younger sister who is 10 is going with them. Unfortunately, my parents hav been offered contracts whih requires them to work abroad for months at a time. This leaves my little sister alone down in london where we hav no family or ne friends to leave her with. I hav tried to find accomodation in manchester where we can both live I cant find nething within my budget. So a course transfer to london seemed the only choice I had, as we have already sold this house here in manchester. I am soooo confused about what 2 do - i start uni in septmeber and although i wanna study at manchester i think course transfers the best thing - my parents dont go abroad for a couple of months yet but what dya think i shud do??????????? they dont have ne money to finance accmodation for us both in manchester n our london house is the only house we have left. also they wouldnt b taking this job if they werent in serious financial problesm cos they got scammed 200.000 pounds by a fake company in dubai - eeeeek!!!!! wt shud i do??? an suggestions would be soooo much appreciated thnk you!

This is really tough - I hope you come up with a good solution. Is this new arrangement temporary or permanent? Will your parents be earning quite well in their new jobs? If they are just going to be working abroad on and off for a year, *or* if it's going to be longer term but they will be able to save enough in their first year to pay towards the rent on somewhere you and your sister can live together (which if they can afford, they should do, as legally she is their dependent and not yours) - why not try and ask Manchester to defer your place by a year? Your circumstances sound fairly exceptional to me, so I imagine they would at least consider it. Then you could take up your place next year, with your parents helping to finance you.

I have no idea what your chances are of getting a transfer - fairly slim I would imagine, but hopefully someone else here has experience of trying to get one.

Hope this has been vaguely helpful.

Hello there,

Well done on your A level grades firstly. You seem to have a genuine reason for needing to transfer which is good. I appreciate how difficult this all must be for you.

I canŽt think of any university in London that would just accept you starting there now unless one of them was your insurance choice and they agreed to accept you (and youŽd have to get your firm choice to release you too).

Kings do accept transfers into their third year, but that is too far away for you unfortunately. The only thing you can do is ring around and see what they say, but it doesnŽt look good.

I hope you find a solution to your problem.
