Do uni's accept D grades can i change my life around
I need some advice in my AS levels i got D for chemistry, pscychology, biology and got an E for geography. So bascially bad grades but somehow passed im a bit suprised that i got E in geography when it was supposed to be the other way round, i should of got E for chemistry because that was my worst subject.
Now my head is spinning im depressed with the bad grades ive got, i feel like i let my parents and teachers down. And i know it was all because of my fault, i didnt revise enough, i spent too much time on the computer, i didnt care, i revised one week before my exams and thats the grades i deserved.
I have come to my senses now, and i really want to change my future after getting those results im trying to be in a positive attitude for the final year of A levels. I set myself targets, to revise everyday , revise earlier, and to retake all my exams next july with my A levels even though all the retakes will cost about £285 but i dont care im going to do this.
I have a few questions and will be very helpful to me if someone can answer :
1.My next concern is with those D grades when i have to do uni applications this year, will any uni's accept me
2. If im going to retake all my AS level modules, without retaking a year, and if i end up getting very good grades like A or B, how can i get to the good uni's like imperial, or UCL?? Because you have to make uni applications in between october and feb so would it be too late to even go to a good uni
3. Is my life over meaning there is nothing i could do :'(?

Either decline the grades and therefore don't put them on your UCAS form or wait until you have already done your A levels and apply during a gap year.
Medicine applications have to be in by October 15th by the way.Manchester Medical School 4th year

Thank you for replying i didnt think of that before
so do you mean that I can just do my A levels, and go to a uni in 2009. Like after if i get good A levels, in july 2008, i can apply in october 2008 to a good university such as Imperial?
Because my cousin wanted to go to imperial she got AAA in her A levels this year but if she wants to go to imperial she cant go this year she has to go next year in september 2008 to do medicine.
That kind of gives me hopes like do you think if i apply for crap uni's now but when my A level results come out next year and if they are really good i still have a chance of going to a good uni but i must take a gap year?

i don't think medical students at medical schools other than IC will be too happy having u call their uni crap

med school is hard to get into for one, and all are acreditted by gmc so you should apply to unis you want to go to not only based on their league table position.Last edited by icecream; 16-08-2007 at 07:32 PM.

What do you mean by crap unis? The GMC views every UK med school as equal. If you declare those grades and apply this year it is unlikely that you will get in. If you don't declare them you might get in. You have nothing to lose by applying this year but it can be upsetting getting rejections. Don't apply to places you wouldn't be happy to go to just for the sake of it and don't get your heart set on one particular uni.

In addition you have to have predicted grades on your form and it's unlikely any tutor will predict you the required grades based on those A/S results.
I think you've got your prerogatives mixed up. It's not about applying to 'crap' universities then 'better' universities, it's whether you want to apply for subjects other than medicine with lower grade requirements this year then try for medicine if you get better results next year.

Resit the appropriate modules. Work your arse off and get the grades. Reapply after you have your grades and take a gap year to get some work exp.

*looks shocked at Lucy's grades*
Well, that is an eye opener.
Er, as said earlier, no offence, but I don't think you're likely to be cut out for Imperial. Your grades are pretty shocking and I'd question your motivation as an administrator. But hey, you ARE determined now, right? My advise is to perhaps to take a gap year to allow yourself to resit all you modules properly. Also, dont sit them all in June - you will bust your brains. Do some in January. And dont revise EVERY day. Again, you'll go nuts.LEICESTER FRESHER 2009

GCSE: Let us not dwell on those 10 awful letters.
A2: Chemistry 'A', Biology 'A', English Literature 'A'
plus Spanish and Critical Thinking at AS.
Have decided to put my grades into my signature as I finally can do so without looking retarded...but I feel I should add it took many resits to get there!
