Dr Neuro...that was a fantastic piece of advise.
I would actually advise leaving London to study medicine as it can be cheaper in terms of finances.
Did you know KCL has the highest drop out of medical students because they cannot avoid to live in London to complete their education and alot of them transfer between basic science and clinical sciences bridge.

But Westside aren't you the one that started a thread about not wanting to go QM in the first place? =S

Hey guys
I have just read a few pages of this topic and find I am still in a dialemma.
So here's my situation.
I got offered a place at liverpool for AAB A's in chemistry and biology
I then did infact get AABB [A's in bio and maths, B's in chem and physics] but my B ended up being in chemistry, so was rejected.
Now to me I only have two choices; to retake or not to retake.
The problem here now lies that alot of univerisities don't accept resit applicants unless they have a extenuating circumstances. And unless having to do 12 exams in the summer is an extenuating circumstance I feel I may be rejected without interview.
I looked up some uni's and found these accept resit people
liverpool
brighton and sussex
Keele
Oxford [yeah I am not sure about this one though, doesn't seem right]
Peninsula
Sheffield
I also looked up universities that may accept a B in chemistry and I found
Brighton and sussex
aberdeen
sheffield
cardiff
glasgow
keele
leeds
penninsula
southampton
UEA
Now I am not completely sure about all of these, I am just assuming since they don't specify A in chemistry.
I just don't know what I can do, because it just seems to me that if I retake no one will want me because I don't have a good enough reason as to why i didn't do well before. But then I don't know whether I'll be disadvantaged having a B in chemistry.
Has anyone been in, or is anyone in this situation that can help me out?
Thanks

Yeh I'm in a similar situation, but I'm not going to resit. Same grades, and I'm awaiting the remark for chemistry but GAp year instead.

I dont know about all the unis on your list but cardiffs standard offer is AAB with A in either chemistry or biology and a or b in the other. and my UEA offer was AAB to include 2 sciences- chem bio maths and physics
so you already have good enough grades from both of these unis

Nottingham also accept a B at chem... I wouldn't resit you've no need to, you'll just be narrowing your options down a bit more.

Thank you guys. I think I have decided not to resit in the end, even though my school thinks I should, but I find there just aren't that many universities taking resit people, so I think i'll stick with the grades I have. Thanks for the advice

Are you sure about nottingham? I loooked on their website and saw that it's A for chemistry? Do you think it's worth ringing them up and asking.
I have sent chemistry for a remark too Ojama. What are planning to do on this gap year? Any ideas where you're going to apply aswell?

Oh when I was applying they didn't specify an A for chem. Maybe they've changed it.
Email round and see what everyone says?

Volunteer, do some community work, and i'd say try branching out to other fields of medicine... such as pharmacy, physio, physically and learning disabled etc. Do different things that make you stand out a bit!
Good luck =)
