I think taking a gap year to retake your A level(s) is good option only if you are confident. But i mean ;There are 2 sides of the blade . The black side in this position is the way teachers consider you. You expect them to consider you as determined young person but majority just categorize you into "stupid, lazy" .They are not adequate brave "" to tell these word to your face but they think in this way . NOT EVERY TEACHER. This is why I'm kind of embrassed to go through this situation incase my results are not as good as expected.

Hello, just missed out on my offer by 8 UMS marks, so i need a bit of guidance as what to do now.

I've already rang up the university (PMS) but haven't got an answer back yet, but its highly doubtful they'll accept me. As i'm not far off grades-wise, i'm strongly considering resitting and getting the As, would this be feasible? (i got an ABB in english biology and chemistry, with both the chem and bio close to As)

If i do resit, would i have to resit UKCAT?

Finally, i know that some places won't consider you if you're a reapplicant and you did or didn't apply to them first time round. PMS are said to accept resits, but would missing my offer first time mean they won't regard me?
Also, Keele rejected me without interview and i know they take on resits too, would the fact that i applied to them first time mean they'll disregard me?

    Thanks

From what I understand: If you resit you need straight As and you'll need to redo the UKCAT. Some universities only accept resits if you applied to them originally.

yes u'll need to redo ukcat as u have to redo it every yr. yea it sounds like it would be ur best bet to resit them and apply to places that'l accept u doing that. ur best bet is to ring or/and email the unis, i always liked to get in writing that they would consider me. and ask them about the resit and applying for a second time. most unis let u apply to them for a 2nd time in a row, but i kno some that after 2 apps you hav to wait a no of yrs before u can apply to them again. always best to check for urself.

also if keele rejected u w/o interview it sounds like you either need to re look at your personal s. or else apply to a diff uni. gl

Yeah, i've already started sending emails to places about their policies.

I'm not entirely sure why Keele rejected me without interview though, as the other three gave me interviews, and i never got feedback on it.

One more question: Would i have to decline my A2 grades (the ones i'm resitting?). Thing is, i was reading through some Unis policies on resit candidates and some say they want proof that you achieved a minimum of ___ grade for A2 first time, but how can you prove it if you don't cash your grades in? I have my student copy of my results, but would that hold up as proof?

    Thanks

well i did my a levels a few yrs back now, but i resat everything and i had papers from the exam board ie OCR with my results on before and after the resits. you should have these already i believe. then when i retook there was a procedure where u could retake everything once and they took the best result from ur 2 exams and so if u did worse on the retake u kept the previous result.

can u ask keele for feedback now? its like with my b'ton one, if u got 3 ints then maybe keele were looking for something different from the rest of them. who knows

yes you do need to decline them and yes the unis will want to know what you got first time. solution: you decline the grades and your referee puts both what you got and what you're now expecting to get.

let me get this clear....when you resit your exams, u decline your current a2 ones and u start off from where you left off at AS-level? and also, if i already have an A, i don't need to sit that subject right.
