AS Edexcel chemistry practical
I am doing the chem practical on friday and i was wandering if anyone has any idea what the planning exercise is about
the question
You have to plan an experiment to identify given solutions of acids and bases

They change it every year, best bet is asking your teacher because they'll know in advance. Are you doing a practical test or supervised coursework experiment?

Well, it changes every year, but for the planning etc. you're allowed to use books anyway (we did with all our cwk, hell, the teacher even dropped some rather large hints!) Anyhoo, if it's something to do with identifying the mystery compound (whether organic or inorganic) then you basically write a procedures from your practical task, aiming to reject one type of compound at each stage. If it's something to do with acids and bases then it'll probs involve a titration at some point. Remembering to use the right indicator of course!!!

wow i wasn't allowed to use my books in the practical!!! godd! is this the planning one where you have to write about an experiment btw? coz if it is it'll be fine...and if its the practical ones where you have to show your observations and inferences, like omlette said you can use your books!
if its the plannin one im thinking of, we had to write about fractional distillation? i think it was that, quite a long time ago though! lol you'll be fine, ask your teacher what it'll be on and then go and memorise everything for that section!!
