Leicester GEP Firm
Hi all
I was just wondering whether anyone had been offered a place on the GEP course at Leicester and decided to accept their offer. I have already accepted my place as it was my first choice!
Also wondering if anyone has any ideas about accomodation/best places to live. I don't really fancy halls again...I did that the first time round.
Hopefully I'll see some of you in September!Quote of the day:

Hi Rob
Will be joining you in September! Heard the guide at interview say some GEP students live in Opal Court which is post grad only halls but no ideas otherwise.

Hi,
I'll be accepting my offer for GEP. Guess I'm a bit of an oldie at 32!! I'll be looking to rent somewhere with my wife to be so if anyone has any ideas of decent areas of leicester that are on a good bus link to the uni please let me know? Look forward to meeting people in Sept.

Hi,
Congrats on places.
I never did stay in halls but my mates did:
I would advise against the halls in in Oadby where many of the five years will be. Its really nice out there its just that the GEPs are in so much it might be a pain getting the bus all the time. People may disagree. My mates mainly stayed at Nixon court (10 min walk) and Opal court (2 min walk). I think they both may have grad areas, or at least if u can get a few of u possibly book one of the flats together. More recent students may be able to give you better advice. These halls are also close to the library if u want it.
As for renting, the most popular student area is clarendon park. Loads of places to rent and shops/bars etc. Town center is also cool if you can find a flat to rent.
Like I said, more recent students may have better or different ideas so see what they say.
Cheers,
Mj

Thanks for the advice MJ that was really helpful
I was thinking about Opal for the first year. I know it will be expensive but maybe that's worth it for the 2min walk! would be nice to get together with some people to book a block out. Maybe I'll try and organise something once a few more people have firmed.
Do you know what the average rent is for some of these places? Just trying to work out my budget at the moment.
Cheers

It would be great to be a 2 min walk from uni especially if we're going to be in everyday....so Opal Court sounds like a possibility and getting a block sounds like a good idea psych1984. Was thinking that maybe getting a house with some other GEP students maybe an option too. I think it'd be good to live with people from the course.....same deadlines etc!
32 isn't old at all Verve! Big2cats is right....we're all more mature which is definately a good thing!
I can't wait to start!!!Quote of the day:

I'd like to show my interest for a block at opal court too, I'm a mature(late 20's) who on the 5 year course got accepted last year but deferred entry to Sept 2010. I really want to be with people around my own age. Its more expensive but I agree for the first year it would be worth living in Opal Court until you get to know the people and the place more. Really nervous about it all as i'm moving from N.Ireland. Totally confused about all the different room types too they are'nt that clear. Congrats to all the GEP offers well done.
Life is too short to wake up with regrets.
So love the people who treat you right.. Forget about the one's who don't.
Believe everything happens for a reason. If you get a second chance, grab it with both hands. If it changes your life, let it. Nobody said life would be easy, they just promised it would be worth it!!
