    Anyone got 5/5 in personal statement or reference from LMS?

    Hey, I applied to leicester medical school for 2010 entry and I know i have:

    4/5 - Academic Criteria
    3/5 - UKCAT score.

    So basically i need to score 9/10 in the other 2 criteria (Personal Statements and Reference) to meet the 16/20 interview threshold.

    Last year i recieved a 4/5 in both personal statement and reference but due to a weaker ukcat score i only got 14/20.

    So just asking to see if anyone who got in or someone who go rejected with feeback can tell me if they recieved a score of 5/5 in those "non-academic" sections???

    I am worrying that LMS rarely give 5/5 for P/S and reference.

    Many Thanks.

    apart from knowing that your academic criteria score was 4/5, do you know how they reached this score??

    also, i am sure that lms would and do give people scores of 5/5 in reference and ps sections because if you can score maximum in the other sections then there has to be consistency to their model! for that reason i'm sure you will be fine!

    I got 14 last year (graduate applying to 5 year).

    3/5 in academics
    2/5 in UKCAT

    Meaning that I got 9 from a possible 10 in PS and reference. I couldn't find out which one was the 4/5 and which one was 5/5

    I've taken a massive risk this year and re-applied because I got a poor UKCAT again (but I've gained an extra point) which, along with other factors, have ruled me out of the majority of unis. I wasn't going to apply at all this year because of my UKCAT but I have nothing to lose (apart from my £19) so I though that I may as well apply. I've made improvements on the PS and reference so hopefully I can get 10 this time. We'll see what happens.

    Arasyed, I don't think anyone's received acknowledgment from Leicester yet.

    I've applied to Leeds, Warwick GEP, Leicester and Dundee.
    So far, I've only gotten acknowledgment from Warwick GEP!!!

    Oh thanks, cuz it got me really worried. I haven't received ANY acknowledgments yet; I hope that's not a bad sign.

    According to what I got told at the open day, to get 5/5 for academics, you need 3A* at GCSE and to be predicted AAA at A level.

    I'm not entirely sure how lower scores are calculated, but GCSEs only count for one point; so 3A*s = one point but 2A*s = no points.

    I think for graduates it goes something like this:

    5 = 1:1 degree mark plus ABC and above at a-level.
    4 = 1:1 and other a-levels or 2:1 plus ABC and above.
    3 = 2:1 and a-levels below ABC.

    This is what i've heard anyway and is part of the reason i wanted to apply to leicester as it would mean i would hold 9/10 for academic and UKCAT marks which i hope would stand a good chance of gaining an interview.
