Leicester 2009, any questions?

Hiya Alice I've applied to leicester, im worried i might not make the 16/20 selection process leicester have based on your PS, ref, lowest ukcat score and academic grades. My PS was alright not amazing but not crap eitha, uckat lowest = 590 and im predicted AAA and no idea about what was said in my reference. Do you know what i would score, any advice??? n how was ur interview???

Hey i applied to leicester with grades AAB in maths,chem and bio in hand. Currently on a gap year. At GCSe i got 2A* in dual science, A in maths, A in geog, Disntinction (AAAA) in GNVQ ICT and CC () in english lang and lit. My lowest UKCAT score was 560. I have been told that my PS and Ref reads very well.. anychance would you think?

I did ring them and they said they will give me 3 for UKCAT and academics...therefore needing 5 and 5 in PS and ref

I was just wonderin.....what is your timetable like? is it really filled up or have you got a lot of free time? how mch work do you get in a weel? is there a lof competition between students? or is everyone just nto bothered about each other's work? how is the city? good clubsbs? pls tell me anythng!! i really want to go to leicester....just really hope they take me! x

I was told I stood a better chance if I have relatives who are medics...but all mine are accountants...do they ask about this?

I guess there is an advantage if u have medic realitves but u r expected 2 knw more and are more scrutinised for e.g. one student i knew whose dad was GP in a surgery, was asked questions about how the surgery was run and about the roles of other healthcare professionals eg. health visitor. I knew another student whose dad was a retired brain surgeon n he applied to oxford, kings.... he had loads of wrk exp. obv (cus his dad owned nursing homes aswell) and all the right criteria etc... but he got all 4 rejections. So basically it doesn't realy matter if ur from medical background or not. Hope that answers ur question

Don't automatically believe everything you hear.

The only advantage that comes along with having relatives in Medicine is that it can be easier to get work experience. Advantages you can get hold of are things such as useful advice, of which there is an abundance of on here.

They aren't supposed to ask you about your parents occupations. It's unlikely that they will.
