Interviews Dates and Offers
As 2008 entry comes to a close i thought it would be good for 2009 applications to know time scales of when applications recieved their interview dates, when the interview was held and how long after did they receive their offers or rejections.
It would be helpful to know of everyones experiences and it might alleviate some anxiety relating to the 'waiting game' as you'd be aware of timescales from last years applicants.
So anyone who would be willing to share their experiences very much appreciated

hi
Interview was 8th February 2008
I got an offer, we were all notified in March but the date on my letter was 21st February 2008.
Oh and i sent my application on 15th October, which was the last day for medicine applications, i dont know if that helps at all.
My interview was 15 mins long

I had applied by the end of September. I received a letter on the 2nd of November inviting me to interview on the 30th of November. One of the first things we were told on interview day was that they would be interviewing all the way up to March and that we would not receive any news until the end of March. That said, my letter offering me a place came the 12th of March. It was a long wait for me and I had a couple of rejections before my Leicester offer, so I was so so happy. Happy to answer any more questions

I was interviewd on Jan 24th and i recieved my offer by email on Jan 29th. (I'm international, and i interviewd on an non-international day).
My interview lasted about 20-25 minutes. (i talk a lot)
I applied on the 16th. (due date was extended) Though i HIGHLY suggest you get it in earlier. The system is overloaded on the last few days, and my heart nearly exploded when ucas wasnt loading and i had still to submit my app. I was up all night.

last year i applied for leicester, got an interview but rejected at the end. My question is, do you think is a good ideal to reapply to leicester. i spoke to some people on the admission office they said that they dont discourage people from apply to their med school, but if i decide to reapply, the chance of getting a place is very slim.
Any advice would be appreciated.

Hey everyone, it would be good to hear what sort of questions you were asked in the interview. Different places seem to handle the interviews differently (E.g. some let the candidate lead the conversation and others have a very rigid set of questions to ask).
Also, does anyone know if the 4 year and 5 year interviews differ at all? (I applied to both courses as i am graduating this year).

if i was you i would just practise answers to general questions like why med?
why here?
weaknesses and interests?
Teamworker or leader?
extra-curriculars?
rather than focus on individual questions as these are the ones that will be focused upon, also for my leicester interview, i was initially asked the questions like above and then was asked questions based on my answers and work experience. I was trying to sway the question towards certain issues like leaving a gap after saying 'medical developements' so they would ask about new treatments/services as this is what i researched..but they werent falling for it but its okay because i was prepared for a series of questions so just go in open-minded and ready for anything. Also they let you talk without interrupting and its really friendly!
Good luck
