Had my interview today. Did not go that well. Some tricky questions and the format had changed a bit from last year much more formal this time around

Hi
I had my interview on the 16th of Jan.
When you arrive, you’ll be made to sign in, and be taken to a waiting area (parents can go with you.)
Interview times will be posted up on the day. The first one is at 2pm, and they interview until about 3.40. (Depends on how many people they’re interviewing.)
The tour was OK- it gives you an opportunity to talk to current medical students- and ask any questions about the course, the uni in general etc.
After the tour you go back to the waiting area and have to wait until your interview time. There is a café and vending machines, so you can buy lunch there. However, there is not much else to do- so bring something to do to pass the time (my interview was at 3.20- so I had a long and very nervous wait!)
The person that has the interview before you will come and collect you. They take you down to the actual interview room- where you wait outside until you’re called in.
The panel is made up of a consultant and a 5th year medical student.
The actual interview itself lasts about 15 - 20 minutes, but time seems to go very quickly once you’re called in!
After your interview you return up to the waiting area, and collect the next person (according to the list on the door,) but don’t worry about that- as it is all explained on the day.
My Leicester interview was very friendly, and mainly personal statement based questions. I was also asked a few tricky questions- but I’m not going to post them up, as it’s not fair to people who already had their interview- and weren’t told the questions!
Good Luck!!!St George’s 2007

Hi im going to agree with Kate on that, I have applied for med school for the previous 3 years, so I not going to post the questions so people can prepare and shoot myself in the foot. Just read around current ethical topics. I did get a few around my PS but not many, mainly "tell me about your research". Thats all folks.

Had my interview today (30th Jan), and that was the best possible interview i could have asked for!
The interview was so relaxed! The interviewers were very nice, very friendly (It was the woman from Obstetrics and gynaecology). All they did was ask questions from my personal statement. No eithical questions, no recent medical stories or anything like that.
There were no difficult questions at all, they seemed very pleased with my answers (well i hope so). Everyone that i did speak to said the same thing.
Believe me, if you go in there with a smile and just sound confident you will be fine!
Good luck to everyone else with an interview
BTW, who else was there. I was the guy with a big brown jacket. I stood out as most people were wearing suits.Last edited by has; 31-01-2007 at 01:48 AM.

Has, I thought it was you earlier! I'm the slightly ditzy blonde girl who was wearing a grey suit and a black headband. So I had the same interview people as you and they were really nice. The interview was ok, though I think there were probably a lot stronger candidates that me! Oh well fingers crossed. And good luck to everyone else!
