    Terrified

Hello, I am really nervous because Leicester is basically my last chance when it comes to medicine. I made the mistake of applying to 3 bmat universities (oxford, imperial and ucl). However, despite my efforts, I mucked up the bmat and so I have very little chance of getting a place there (already been rejected from oxford).

I would love to go to Leicester, but I am extremely anxious as to whether I will be offered a place.

I have 5 a stars at gcse and 1 a level at grade A (because I did further maths) and am predicted a's in the other 3 (the 3 sciences).

I got 647.5 in my ukcat which is better than some people with extremely high bmat scores got.

I wrote what I think is a very good personal statement and I have a lot to say about my work experience in a hospital as I was able to do a lot during my week and a half there.

I am finding the wait excruciating, but do any current medical students here know if my credentials are at least good enough to get an interview, where hopefully if I do well will result in an offer.

I have already decided that if I do not get in to medicine I will take a year out; even though that is not something I want to do. The main reason for this is that it would be a bad choice in universities (pretty much being the top universities for medicine and the most competitive) rather than a poor academic record or motivation for doing medicine which would get me those rejections.

Is there anyone that can help calm me down or offer me advice?

    thank you,

by the way, you get a better chance in reapplication? Why would that be? Because they see your determination, that you want to do the course so much you are prepared to wait another year to do it or some other reason?

no macca, its not that at all really, though that may be the case too.
you ave three As or AAB to meet admissions demands mekking it a better application, less rejectable on academic grounds.
(unless you got rejected for being a liar or a cheat, which isnt you).

also one rejection means nuffing. most get three rejections, even brill candidates, simply cos there application doesnt meet the admissions requirements well, whilst some shit candidates get offers for being crap but meeting requirements stipulated.

    so no need to worry.

Just relax as much as you can & wait, it's all you can do now really! No one's going to tell you that you'll definitely get an interview, because there's no way of knowing. You do have good grades though, so hopefully that will help.

(And taking a gap year won't be the end of the world, mine was completely unplanned and I'm actually really enjoying it!)
    Reapplying in 2007:
    Southampton - rejected
    Newcastle - interviewed
    BSMS - interviewed
Queen Mary - interviewed - another rejection
