Leicester Halls

I'm calling on some advice & experience from any Leicester students, or anyone with experience or knowledge of the halls situation!

I'm applying to live in halls as a sub-warden (had my interview last week) and it seems that if I end up with a job offer, I might be in catered halls. We had a quick drive around the Oadby student village after my interview last week, and it was beautiful & so not-like the bog-standard student halls I've ever lived in!

I was wondering if anyone knows about Digby or Beaumont Halls.......what the food is like......if the travelling is a problem......what the rooms are like.......etc

Thank you!

Southernsofty,
I stayed in Beaumont Halls in my first year of medical school, although that was quite a long time ago now - 2000! I really enjoyed my time there and the hall has a real community feel. I remember that the sub-wardens had really nice rooms with quite a lot of space.

If I were you I would apply to the old block as the rooms are probably larger and the old block generally looks nicer. The hall backs straight onto the botanical gardens and there is even a room with a piano in it!

The food is pretty much like the food in all the other halls of residence, however, if you get totally fed up with it there is a huge ASDA only 5 minutes walk down the road.

Transport wise there is a bust stop right outside the front of Beaumont hall and it goes direct to the university and straight into the town centre.
