3rd Year Medicine at Leeds

Hi

I've just finished my 2nd year at leeds.

A few people have told me that it's not worthwhile getting accomodation in leeds during the 3rd year as you are placed in hospital for 2 terms, and that the hospital provide's free accomodation during this time? is that true? As i live a commutable distance from leeds i would like to know whether to sort some housing out for next year.

I would appreciate any help.

Thanks

From Christmas time you have placements for 4 days a week. When these placements are at the further out hospitals (Airedale, Bradford etc from memory) then you have accomodation provided for Monday-Thursday at those hospitals but when you have placements at Jimmies and LGI etc you don't have any accomodation. I would say that you would need accomodation in Leeds although I guess it depends how far away you live and whether you'd be happy to commute in 5 days a week quite a bit. You have to remember that you have no way of predicting where your placements are going to be.

You have two home placements (where accomodation is not provided) and one away placement (where it is). In my opinion you really need a house in leeds. Especially as commuting and finding a place to park by the hospitals in a nightmare.
