How do Leeds select applicants for interview?

Hey.

I couldn't find much information on the website on how Leeds select applicants for interview... All I could find was this:

"All UCAS application forms are assessed for the extent to which they demonstrate the academic and non-academic criteria independently by two senior medical staff using explicit criteria which are reviewed annually by the Admissions Committee. On the basis of these assessments, candidates can be rejected or called for interview."

So, how exactly do Leeds select candidates for interview? What are these "assessments"?

Your application is scored: personal statement and referee's statement.

Personal statement scores are broken down and you can gain a maximum score of 6 in each category:

Motivation and insight
Social awareness
Responsibility
Non- academic achievements (outside interests)

Do you know what sort of score out of 24 you need or will it change each year so they keep the same amount of interviewee's?

It changes every year. If there's a strong set of applicants the score will increase, it's dependent on each year.

It must be similar each year though... What is the general range?

Apparently in the year I applied there were 3500 applicants for 250 places, with roughly 800 interviews given out.

I'm too pissed to see if that helps at the moment, but I hope it does.

All the best

Lol. It does help! Thanks for the info.

But it didn't help my actual question...

A slightly more sober look at things, by which I do mean slightly, reminds me that there was talk of scored out of 35 last year.

I'd have a search if I were you.

I would do it but i'm currently putting off trying to find some bed linen and going to bed. Assuming I can make it, which is hard enough sans booze.
