FAQ
What are the entry requirements for Foundation and First year?
Clinical Sciences at the University of Bradford
Is foundation year only for students with non- science A-levels?
No.
Can I apply for both foundation year and first year?
The course codes are different so in theory you can apply to both, however admissions tutors for clinical sciences will access your application and decide whether it be best you be placed in foundation year or first year. So it is wise not to do this and apply for just one.
What mark do I need in foundation year/ first year to progress to Leeds?
A minimum of 70% in foundation year and 60% in first year is required.
Do the top 20 students get a place in Leeds?
No. Everyone who achieves 70% or 60% depending on the year is eligible to transfer to Leeds demanding on interview.
Does Leeds screen applications?
Yes. If there are too many applicants that have the minimum mark, Leeds will screen out candidates before inviting them to interview.
How many students transferred to Leeds this academic year 2008?
16 students from foundation year transferred to Leeds. And all 20 places in first year were filled.
How many students are in each year?
Foundation year had approx 60 students and first year approx 70 this acdemic year.
Can someone other than my personal tutor write my reference?
No. Your personal tutor is the only person that writes your personal statement. You have a tutorial with them every fortnight.
Will I get a chance to meet students from Leeds?
Yes, you will be given the chance to meet students throughout the year. An evening is sit within the year to allow students from both fdn and first year to meet with students that have transferred to Leeds from Bradford and make contacts.Smart Happily Ecstatic Heartily Nepotist Angel

lol, thanks, i was wondering the same thing myself, even worse, i'm local, i live in Bradford. for gcse i got A*AAAABBBBB, not great, and at AS i got ABBB. i was a few ums off As in two of my subjects but i guess that doesn't matter. i mean, i thought it'd be good enough for clinical sciences lol....plus, i didn't think my personal statement was all that, but everyone who read it, loved it. they said it was definitely the strongest bit in my application but i feel like crap now.

since i went to bradford and am now studying medicine, i can tell you why she didn't get in, the exact reason maria has come up with, her grades were too high. bradford is designed for people who either don't have the grades or don't have the right subjects. clin sci is a hugely competitive course to get onto and due to this they are cracking down on giving offers to those who have too higher grades. if you do get feedback thats what they'll tell you.
take it as a complement, they think you'll do well enough to get into med school via the normal route
ps. Shahidredhot you might want to drop the attitude before interviews, it shows, believe me.Remember, you can have it all

i gt what everyone else is sayin about it beein for people less academically well off but bugger to the rest of us what do well but are tryin to ensure that we can still do medicine is what it sounds like

in a nutshell the course wasn't designed to be used as a back up by people who have the grades, it was meant for people who would have no other way of getting into medicine otherwise. plus clin sci isn't a way to "ensure" you get to do medicine.
Remember, you can have it all
