What's the problem? It's a free world...

Less the person, more the concept, and i think your free world includes the freedom to answer people's questions (they asked, let's not forget) in no uncertain terms.
Anyway unless i'm mixed up, they deserve a go for recent comments.

Actually i agree with Pammy, aspiration can do whatever she wants. And besides we are not in secondary school to go around bullying people just because they live with their parents on campus.GROW UP PPL!
I wouldnt want to have my mum on campus but i woudlnt mind if anyone does.Im not gonna sit there and laugh at them.
Singh.Simran..people have the right to exercise their constitutional rights provided they do no harm to anyone.and no you dont have to provide an answer for every question thats asked.

Which comment did u think was bullying? -cos I haven't read any by the people who attempted to advise someone who asked for it.
And um, threads are started by people who want to spark discussion or get others perspective so of course people are going to answer questions :S
The only thing i'd agree with u on is the people who are like 'surely she's joking' well why would she :S Still thats hardly bordering on bullying its jus ignorance on those peoples parts to 'cultural' boundaries/ over protective parentals.

Honest advice: Hell no.
I see no problems. I dont know why anyone's particularly bothered really...

The thing you have to remember is that singh has a terrible procrastination problem, that keeps him on here twenty hours a day. In his mind he does have to provide an answer to everything.
I can sympathize as i do look for anything i can help answer here too in the run up to exams, just i'm not quite as terribly afflicted as singh.
As for the original question I think it depends on the pair. I sure as hell wouldn't want my mother here, but i think my sister would probably want mum at uni.

(On a break from revision)
So...let me get this right....
Someone asks an honest question, an odd one, leaning towards an answer themselves simply by asking it, and if we don't agree with them we should.....not answer???
No one is doing any bullying, that's absurd.
The title of the thread is "Honest-advice-please", and "Hell no, that's just odd" then umpteen reason why is an appropriate answer. The very fact they were asking it shows they want opinions.
Also, to whomever mentioned "Constitutional rights"....Leeds isn't in a country with a constitution

Firstly, if you're going to make random frankly rather offensive comments, you can shut up.. and if you'll do it without evidence, and getting my name wrong, you can damm well shut up, Jenny.
and more importantly, you misread (as i did too, at first). She doesn't mean i'm pathologically unable to stop answering questions, i think she means "just because one sees a question, one is not necessarily obliged or justified in answering..
edit: Not you Nik, twerpinol. And technically we do have a constitution... otherwise what d'ya reckon these lot get up to all day - Department for Constitutional Affairs - Home Page

Why are you attacking Sim? he's on the forum to answer questions, as is the purpose of the forum, and him being a member. You should be privilaged to have his answers, and answers from anyone else - you're not forced to read them

Frankly i wasn't aware that i was attacking the chap.
I was simply taking Princess's statement that "Singh.Simran..people have the right to exercise their constitutional rights provided they do no harm to anyone.and no you dont have to provide an answer for every question thats asked." as an attack, and attempting to negate it on Singh's behalf with the point that vast numbers of us are here to procrastinate, an essential part of which is answering questions.
As for the name spelling, I must confess that was an honest mistake. I read it, remembered briefly then spelt it phonetically (any unfamiliar name is prone to misspelling in my hands).
