there are approx 65 people in year one and the dame for foundation. the grade boundaries are 65% and 70% respectively. Leeds have 40 places, 20 for year one and 20 for foundation year. going into year one had marginally less competition as some people will have already been rejected in foundation year and so consequently will not be able to apply again. however people in year one tend to have higher A level grades than those in foundation so there is more compition that way.

    Hey,

The interview is just like a medicial interview so prepare for it in the same way.

    The questions were like :

    Why medicine?
    why not a nurse ?
what work experience have you had?
    Responsibility
    Team work
(specific PS stuff) - so know it inside out

    etc.

    Good luck !

    I have not heard anthing

I have not heard anything about interviews from them, do they give preference to people living near by as I am from London. My PS statement was also catered very much towards medicine. I am now so worried, have not heard from any of the uni. I have applied to.

Good luck to all thoes who have got interviews.

they say they do but no not really. one guy in my year was from the isle of white. i'm from liverpool. people were from all over the place.
and don't worry about your statement being geared towards medicine. thats what clin sci is for, no one wants to do clin sci cos they want to do clin sci, its cos they want to do medicine.

Hey everyone. Hope your interviews all go well! Scary!

I haven't put in my application for Clin Sci yet (closing date not till January, right?! ) - am I going to be at a huge disadvantage for doing it later? I'm not applying to med till 2009 and wanted to get as much work exp under my belt as possible (read: never do anything till the last minute) before putting my application in.

Is it still true that most people get in through clearing?

    Also, thanks Steph

i would say about 20 get in through clearing. the rest of the people have already applied. clin sci is very popular so the earlier the better really.
the only reason why such a large number get in through clearing is because many med applicants use it as a back up, get offers then don't take them. so they do tend to give out loads of offers because they know this is what people do.

yup, say you want to do medicine, and then go onto say why you want to do medicine. say something like if you don't get in the first time, you would stay and do post grad, cos medicine is what you really want.

Steph, did you go straight for the first year? Also, 40 people get into the foundation course and the normal course but how many people would you say actually apply altogether? And Steph, to clinical sciences did you get a conditonal (if so, for what grades..) or unconditional offer?

    Thanks, eclipze

ok just so ya know i got in through clearing.
but yes i went straight for the first year on clin sci and got into year two leeds. This year 28 applied from year one, all where interviewed and 17 got on, and i think about 18 from foundation 16 interviews and 14 got in. Those figures are normal for foundation year, but for year one the average is about 40 normally apply.
cos i already had the grades when i went for clearing interview the offer was unconditional.
