Thumbs up Clinical Sciences clearing, leeds and such :)

Hi I have just completed year 1 of clinical sciences at bradford uni and have successfully got into Leeds medical school starting in year 2. I didn't have any offers for medicine this time last year and got into bradford through clearing. If this is you and your thinking of clin sci it really is a great way to get into Medicine.

You don't apply to Leeds until the end of your exams. Can't remember the exact date but all the forms are sent to you via email and you just fill them in and hand them in.

It's all done internally so you don't need to worry about UCAS or anything like that.

The first part of the form is just about your work experience etc and the dates and what your role was etc.

Yeah you have to fill in the form before you get your exam results and then if you get over 65% they send them to leeds. Things you can do to strengthen your application is get some work experience while your on clin sci to show you are still very much interested in medicine. Also be aware of health issues in bradford, where your from originally and in the UK in general. If you get an interview be honest and confident.
The second part of the form is a personal statement much like your UCAS one.
hope this helps.

Do you have to take UKCAT to transfer to Leeds? Do you have to sit UKCAT before September 2007 if you expect to transfer to Leeds in Sep 2008? Is this for both foundation and first year of Clin.Sci? If you need UKCAT, was it organized by Brad. Uni (when)? To those who transfered to Leeds: What UKCAT score did u get?

We didn't have to do it this year and I transfered from year 1 clin sci to year 2 medicine. The admissions tutor at leeds told us we had to do it but Bradford uni couldn't get us all in the same test centre on the same day.
So in answer to your questions, yes it is for both foundation year and first year, yes you would have to do it and yes bradford uni organises it. I don't know when they would organise it for because it didn't get to that stage.
hope this helps

How many people transferred this yr?

I heard that they had allocated 20 places for transfer. Somebody told me that only 5 had transferred. Is this true? How many ppl were in your yr? Thanks.

No, don't know where you got that. The 20 transfered from year 1, and 15 from foundation year. So 35 altogether.

Is year 1 at bradford a mirror image of leeds year one or is it different to any significant degree?
