Biomedical Science/Physiology with Pharmacology/Neuroscience

Hi every1,

I called the Clinical Sciences ppl today, I was told that dey don’t av any places available. And maybe just maybe I can call dem on results day to see if dey av any places available. So much for not been sure about Clinical Sciences.

Anywaz am considering the following courses as a back up plan; just encase da Clinical Sciences don’t av any place’s available come next week:

• Biomedical Science
• Physiology with Pharmacology
• Neuroscience

I read dat dey r all good entry routes to medicine. From what I read dey all seem to involve similar modules if not the same. I mean does one of dem involve more Chemistry dan Bio and vice versa. Biomedical involves Dissection and stuff (year 2) but I cant find anything dat says da other two courses do; does dat give u a head start wen studying Medicine as a postgraduate??

So I was wondering if any of u guys r on one of these courses or know something about dem; I would be extremely grateful for any advice and feedback any of u guys can give.

Thanking you in advance

well of course clin sci will not have any places left because they will have given out all their offers. most of these offers will be to people who have applied to medicine using their first four choices.
on clearing day they will have loads of places cos all these people will have turned down the offer and gone to do medicine. this yr nearly all the people who got on got in through clearing.

Hey there Steph8552! Thanks for all the info!!!

Could anybody please list down all universities which accept the Foundation Course in Clinical Science??? (I only know Hull-York.)

Also, please list down for me the different unis which accept the Foundation Course Clinical Science for those who were unsuccessful in gaining a Leeds Medical School place, but would like to transfer to another university & course e.g. Biomedical Sciences, Medical Sciences, et c.?

Thank you in advance for any information!!!

^ahh cool. Cheers for the info.

Right, so I'll be applying for the Foundation Medicine this year (fingers crossed). And I would like to ask if I should now do the UKCAT test now? Would you even advice me to do the test this year?

If I did the UKCAT test this year and got, say, 500 - can I retake the UKCAT test again in 2008 to boost up my marks? Will they look at my previous score/points? I'm not really sure how this whole UKCAT thing works. Heeeellllpp Plleeaaasseee!!!

Ty.

I don't know much about the UKCAT tbh cos I didn't do it. But you might as well do it asap that way at least you have done it and got it out the way.

(what do you think Lea)

I got in (kinda) through Bradford Uni Foundation In Medicine Year 0/Clinical Sciences. Now they're inviting me to an informal interview on the 18th August (Saturday).

Please please, any advice at all for me e.g. questions that may be asked & how to answer them? please?

Thanks!

Be honest is the most important thing. If they ask why you want to do clin sci, say its because you want to do medicine. They asked me questions about the different body systems and how they worked, do you best but if you don't know just say, thats the best thing. If they like you they will give you an offer there and then .
