It's a mirror image of what Leeds Med students do in there first yr, you have loads of dissection sessions etc in Leeds and all the course material is the same as Leeds.

Don't think it's different in a major way to Leeds if it was then you couldn't transfer to 2nd year.

No they don't. They only look at the results you get for Year 1 Clic Sci.

Hey Steph, it's Lea! Fancy seein u here!
Nope they dont look at ur GCSEs, they only took 16 from yr 1 this yr I dunno how many from foundation........
60% isnt too bad to get, but I'd reccommend doing what I did and prepare before u go - I could sit back and relax a bit throughout the yr cos I did loads the summer before I went. Get Tortora and Derrickson anatomy and physiology - thats the book they reccommend and its the main book used throughout the yr.
The transfer interview isnt too bad either - its formal so wear a suit but the panel are friendly.
Because they only take a max of 20 I prob wouldnt reccommend the clin sci course unless u missed the grades for med as the competition is high, I got the grades for med and did clin sci and got thru to Leeds, but because Leeds dont HAVE to give u an interview now, u have as much chance thru ucas if u have got the grades.
The course is good though, its interesting, the staff on the whole are ok. The students are very friendly and theres a good atmosphere.
When we (steph and I) first started students who had transferred previously talked to us and told us not to be too intense, to take time out to rest and work as a team. At first I was like 'whatever, this is my last chance at medicine, I'm not taking my nose out of the books', but throughout the yr I relaxed a lot and realised what we were told was right - it is better to work as a team and help each other out and to rest from time to time.
Hope all this helps.
Lea

Work Experience

Hey guys,
Thanks for ur replays. Sorry to have to keep on asking questions. I just wanted to ask about the work experience which u guys recommend to do.. Do Bradford Uni arrange the placement for u, Or do we have to look 4 one ourselves??

I also wanted to ask if any of u know of any Unis/Courses other than Leed medical school that accept transfers from year 1 Clinical science to year 2? The reason am askin is because am just thinking of a back up plan just encase I don’t make it into leeds medical school and if I feel dat I don’t wann carry on wid clinical sciences after year 1. And end up dropping out and wasting a whole year.

I contacted the Sheffield Biomedical department but dey said dey wouldn’t accept a transfer into year2 for Biomedical sciences coz the modules do not match wid da Clinical sciences.
Am gonna stop now coz am startin to get confused myself. Hope my question makes sense.

Ur advice and comments r very much appreciated

Thank u once again

Bradford uni arrange the placement. You just choose whether you want primary care or secondary care. I think Kings college accept it because it says they accept entry from access courses in their prospectus, you might want to check that though, i don't think it would be into year 2, but hey if you get into year one from it i'd take it.

I don't know about anywhere else.

Also if you stayed on and did the whole BSc in clinical sciences there is an excellent chance of you getting into post grad medicine from that. Its very highly thought of cos its so close to medicine.

hope this helps

Clinical Sciences

Hey guys

Thanks 4 all ur replays.. Sorry 2 av to keep askin questions. But I wanted to ask regarding da work experience that u guys recommend to do. Do Bradford sort out the placement for us or do we av to look for one r selves?

And also does anyone know of any Unis/Courses who accept transfers from year 1 Clinical Sciences to year 2 (Medical Sciences, Human Physiology, Pharmacology and Neuroscience). The reason am askin is because am tying to think of a back up plan just encase I don’t make it into Leed medical school and I may not want to carry on wid da Clinical Sciences course. And end up dropping out after year 1 and waste a whole year (not to mention the finical side as well).

I called the Sheffield Biomedical department but they said dey wouldn’t accept a transfer into year 2 as the modules do not match.

All ur comments and advice r very much appreciated

Thank u all once again

Or if u really didt want to do clin sci u could put in a ucas form for another course - I did that as a backup!
