and that is why league tables are bollocks, how can two seperate tables get such opposite results. they are ranked based on meaningless things anyway, and just goes to further demonstrate that one should not listen to them one bit!

May i know whats leodisians? I applied to Leeds for 2008 entry, is leodisians some sort of exam prize or special reward? Or..perhaps something like the hall of fame?

A Leodisian is simply just someone from Leeds.

I'm sorry for sounding stupid in that post, actually i could guess it myself the real meaning of that phrase, but trying to act stupid so that someone could give me an exact explanation or representation of it.

Ranks as in "join the ranks" of any particular sub set of individuals. If I was to say: "He's joined the ranks of the Albanian army" it would just mean that someone had joined the Albanian army.

"It would surely be strange if, among those who returned to Alencon or its neighborhood, no brave, honorable, and, above all, sound and healthy officer of suitable age could be found, whose character would be a passport among Bonaparte opinions; or some ci- devant noble who, to regain his lost position, would join the ranks of the royalists."- V. Woolf. - from "the free dictionary"

Likewise if you "join the ranks" to become a leodisian it simply means that you have gone to leeds and consider yourself as coming from leeds.

Oy Vey.....

Now that clears my little doubt. I'm sorry not being able to grab the whole idea of that phrase as i'm an international applicant and i never really heard of those things in my country. Thank you a lot for the clarification! I really appreciate it.
