    Question Stuent Loan Company

    Help!

I just called the student loan company (SLC), spent an hour on hold only to be told that they still haven't looked at my application as of yet. They said it was received by them 19 June and they are working on files received the 5 June. My only issue is that they have told me this each time I've called for the last 2 weeks. Could anyone here tell me if they have already heard back from the SLC (i.e. that your loan application has been approved)? Is anyone in the same position as I am? How easy is it to get these loans when you're an EU applicant and not a UK applicant? I guess I'm worried as I have to sign for accommodations soon and I want to make sure that my fee loan is in order before I do.

I'm in the same position, also an EU student. They received mine on June 28th, I've tried calling them but after holding for so long without answer I gave up. I can't believe how frustrating it is to deal with this company.

Anyway I'm still waiting,it'll just really suck if they rejected the loan after all this time. They quoted 40days for the processing of the application. But it's been way over and still nothing.

Please let me know when you hear from them.

Hi guys, although your situation sucks to high hell, I am a little less miserable knowing that I am not the only one. I sent my forms via fedex 2 months ago (so a little later than you guys) and i've not even received a confirmation!
I remember reading somewhere that late payment of fees was no longer going to be tolerated. This is one thing I do not want to worry about!
I will try and call them again tomorrow and the day after and the one after that if I have to.
I beleive this is our only option but I am open to all suggestions.

    Hey guys,

Just wondering if you had heard anything? I tried to call them again this afternoon but the same thing happened as last time, i just couldn't get through to anyone. Any of you have any luck?

    chadtnl,
Fortunately, I did have luck when I called yesterday morning. After spending 1.5 hours on hold (thankfully the hold music isn't half-bad) I got through to a representative who told me that my file was still under review. I decided to submit a formal complaint regarding this lengthy process (it's been well beyond the 40 days quoted) as well as the obescene hold times!

When I spoke with them, they gave me a number that I was to give the fees office at Leeds - 4 alpha, 8 numeric, 1 alpha - (i.e., ABCD12345678E). This number allowed me to complete my registration online for Leeds (I had to call into the fees office and tell them what the number was before I could continue with the online registration). So, while I still don't have a confirmed loan, I was able to satisfy Leeds' want for this information.

I'll post to this board again just as soon as I hear back regarding my complaint or if I hear that a decision has been made on my loan.

Best of luck to you all --

Well, there's me too! Pretty puzzling, isn't it? I sent mine in the 28th of may and, after a few clamorous mistakes on both parts, neither I know if I will be given the loan. Funky. Apparently I only have to show the school the confirmation letter to proceed with enrolment but...what happens if I am rejected? It is absolutely impossible to be decently organised if one does not know what his/her financial situation is till the very last moment. I really count on it, as it's not easy to ask dad at my age. Let's think all together to a solution, in case we are giving the SLC too much of our trust. I think I'll make a complaint too. Just for a start.

    Good news!
The SLC has informed me that they are now reviewing EU files from 14 June. Therefore, mine will be reviewed soon *smiles*

And the wait times on hold have been drastically cut - today I called at 4 o'clock and was on hold for about 6 minutes before speaking to someone.

Has anyone heard yet from the EU team at the SLC otherwise as to the status of their file?

No news here and it is not a comforting thought!
