Is Robbins overkill?

I know the recommended text for PoD is Underwood but have read some rather negative reviews of it. I'm tempted to go for Robbins & Cotran's Basis of Physiologic Disease but suspect it might be slightly OTT for my needs. For anyone who uses Robbins: does it explain topics clearly or is it likely to fly over my head (like most things)?

Ha! That's nothing. I memorised Harrison's Principles of Internal Medicine while watching the footy. Forgotten it all now though...

I hope you're not dissing one of my top five medical textbooks. ;-)

I've never looked at Robbins, but Underwood does follow the lectures quite nicely.

Underwood it is then! One final question - is it worth buying a genetics text for BMS2 or just get something out the library? Have a good summer (unless you're on the wards most of the time!).

What summer? We have our exams in July and then straight on elective, then straight back into uni stuff. Obviously on my elective I'll be working extremely hard and doing lots of hours..... Hmmmm....

I bought a genetics textbook for BMS 2. It did come in handy... but I've never looked at it since. Thinking back I could have just spent a bit of time in the library rather then getting a book just for ten lectures (or however many there is). Therefore, I reckon just get a book out the library or photocopy some pages.

After I get back from my elective I'm going to sell all of my books. I can't wait! I'll be rich!!

I've already started selling my first year books I'm addicted to ebay - anything that's not nailed down in our house gets flogged. So are you off anywhere exotic for your holiday? I mean elective

Do you get to the stage then where you feel that you don't need you books any more? I can't imagine ever feeling confident enough to get rid of mine...
