Recommended reading for 2nd year?

Hello,

Any 2nd years or soon to be third years out there?

Supposing I get a bit of free time over the summer (between working and revising for my resits ha ha) - what would you recommend as a bit of reading to give me a foundation for what lies ahead in second year?

I'd especially appreciate any recommendations for what might prepare me a bit for the first term?

Thanks in advance,
Brian

Underwood General and System pathology. Excellent book - it's the recommended text and follows the lectures quite nicely. This book is also useful for Lab Sci stuff in second and third year. I even look at it now! This is one of the only five books that I recommend for the whole of MBChB.

There is a bit of genetics. I stupidly bought a gentics book and haven't looked at it since!

Crossman and Neary (neuro anatomy) is ok - they recommend it. It's quite cheap, but you may be able to get away without it. Otherwise you'll still need a general good anatomy textbook.

I have got other books like a paeds one and psyc one, but I reckon that the above would def see you through the first three years if you're willing to spend a bit more time in the Library.

Cheers - These four have been the ones I've used the most in my first year. What did you use for BMS in your first year - was Tortora enough for you?

I used Instant notes in Biochem (but never looked at it since) and my lecture notes/work books etc.
