Flissy: dont worry, the timing of your interview has absolutely no bearing on how much they want you! so dont worry about that. each pannel only does one session of interviews together too, so dont think they will be 'bored' of it all.
In terms of qns, they tend to stick to questions about you, work exp, extra curricular stuff and what you have taken from the experience.

Are any specific Qs on med topics asked at interview? ie will be expected to know about things like e.g. alzheimers and have to answer qs on them? and will we be asked qs about what we're doing on our A2 syllabus?

I would say you are unlikely to be asked specific schientific questions upon interview at Leeds; obviously, anything can happen though. You are more likely to be asked about current issues in the news. Then you could be asked to explain about them from a medical standing (ie show u understand what is going on)
However they dont expect a wonderful medical knowledge - they want to see that you can think on your feet, and have a good layperson's understanding of the current health issues in the media.
Any sciency questions that do come up you should be able to answer based on your A2 knowledge, reading you have done, and some common sense to link it all together.
Dont worry, you'll be fine! best of luckMarc

Hey,
The timing of interviews bears no resemblence to preference. The admissions office gets PS from UCAS duirng Sept and Oct. All of these have to be collated, and info stored. They need to be sent to various PS markers. The marked PS then gets sent back at sometime, it goes through more marking/moderation and then they will decide who will get interviewed or not. As you can imagine this process takes a while and all PS by the end are jumbled up!!
The best place to look for what interviewers are after is the UoL Sch of Med website and also admissionsforum.co.uk and our website (below). They can ask anything! However, they aren't there to trick you out! They tend not to ask sciency questions like Oxbridge, hwoever, if you say something like "The heart really facinates me", then they would expect you to talk about the way the heart works! However, they could in theory ask anything, esp something that's topical in the news. I can't imagine them just bringing up a random disease out of the blue!!
To give you an idea, in 2005 around 700 people were interviewed for around 240 places.
Hope this helps,

WAMS, I'm guessing about 450-500 offers were made for the 240 places?

The questions and interview format sound good, although I think it may be a little intimidating speaking to somone I consider more of a 'peer' (the medical student). Should be a fun day anyway, especially as so many people are interviewed on the 23rd, and nice to have a good look round the uni.
Takes a little pressure off already having an offer though.. Good luck to everyone with interviews!Manchester '06
