Opportunity of a life time (for 2nd/3rd years)
Hey guys
Errr....well the opportunity is for you guys to shed some light on the up and coming cardio-resp exams
Any advice on OSSEs (what not to do) and tips, what seen/unseen cases did you get? Hmm...any dodgey slide based that come to mind? Were there any calculations (like flow and stuff).
Anything really!
Thanks

Guyton is very good for the medical physics.
Crash course cardio and respiratory is good for the slides.
Rang / Ganong good for MCQ's.
OSSE you'll pass if you went to the practicals and know your stuff. Look on ebay for good cheap sphygnomanometers to practice with - I did.
Judy's psychosocial is excellent building block.
If the seen is a specialist thing, such as ECG or the like get a good simple book that explains it. - SIMPLE!
Above all have a PBL mock session thing with your mates and discuss things.
Good luck

LMAO. Hmm I'm worried about you now too....now that you mention it. Listen, I know its hard giving them up, especially since you mention theres so many to choose from. But remember its wrong to take drugs...were you not thought that at school? I think you need to see Judy Rock for some psycho-social information, it'll help you not lapse.

Rang the daddy when it comes to pharmacology - but!
It can be too detailed. This detail is exceptional for the seen case.
However I use the suppliment called Rang Condensed to prepare for slides as there are more / same diagrams better explained.
Alas it is £18 but it is in the library and resource room!
Like Zub2star says, it is wrong to take drugs, therefore the drugs are there to balance homeostasis. A drug is given to make things normal. Therefore learn the normal physiology rather than the bad and the drugs become far easier to understand.
Digoxin rules.

Dr D pharmacology guru also likes to use diagrams from Waller and Rang (more Rang I think) to make his slides for the exam.
The book is called "Pharmacology Condensed" by Dale and Haylett and is pink/red/purple, quite thin too. The companion to Rang.
