Freshers Week.
Freshers week was somewhat of a disappointment for me last year. It mainly stemmed from not actually having a week! I think we were into the proper time table on the thursday of freshers week. I am not sure if this is going to happen again, but we want to make the week exciting, and full of oppportunites for your year to bond, and a chance for you to make some friends and get to know each other a little bit better.
The medical school have things for you guys to do during the day, which are quite intuitative and will introduce you to the course and the staff etc. However, social wise its totally up to you guys. Ideally we are going to organise a mix of drinking and non-drinking events, ie: football tournament, pub crawl etc., to make sure there is something for everyone, but if you guys have any ideas then please post here on PM me.
Should be fun!Keele 5th year.

yes, i agree. Our fresher's week flew past. I would seriously urge the sept 2006 first years to make suggestions as to what they would like to see happening-so that they can be implemented by the appropriate year reps. Its your week!

Hi guys,
I'm in favour of a indian/desi type of gig. If you can get some asian bhangra music DJs in. I have heard from some asians at the campus, that the bhangra scene is a bit dry. So if possible, a bhangra/asian music gig would be ideal for me. (Which you could easily mix in with some good quailty R&B)
I don't think I know what facilities you guys have so I can't comment. All that fresher's was about at QM was raving, raving and more raving. I'm surprised that you guys are doing something like footy-tournaments etc. (which is excellent)
Here at qm we had coaches organised to some other major events around london. So maybe that's an idea. I really don't know to be honest.
We had fresher's stalls set up in the first week. Where they were giving out freebies, (nothing of much value) and getting people to sign up to their clubs and socities.
oh yeah, we had a fresher's fortnight at qm. The first event kicked out the night everybody moved in (which is something like the 24th at keele I believe).
Generally speaking I think we would be happy with whatever you guys got in store for us.
Just to add, I attended Keele summer school about 5 years ago. Where we spent 4 nights on campus, and we all had an amazing time (I still have free VHS tape of the event).
I can tell you some of the stuff that went on their:
- A Ball with dinner. Very posh it was.
- A coach trip to the theatre.
- Had the army down to do some team-building army exercises.
- Bouncy castles fun-fair type outside arena
- A disco which only lasted till 12am
- Went to some taster lectures for various subjects (which were quiet fun)Last edited by anup; 21-04-2006 at 03:05 AM.

wahoo yeh that sounds fun... except we'd end up having to practice our dodgy first aid skills on each other when we fall over!

No it's my insurance. But tbh i doubt i'll be getting into my firm (liverpool- asking for an A in AS gen studies as well as AAA and general studies seems not to be my thing :S! certainly at the minute anyway) and i *should* get my A in chem for keele, so it is more likely it's where i'll be heading in sept, even though it's insurance.
