I think them stamping it means they received what you sent them and not necessarily that they received all the required documentation.
Last year they stamped my postcard even though I hadn't sent all the required documentation.
Let's hope 2010 is my year!

i too am a bit baffled by this evidence of conferring malarky. sent a stamped cert from UCD about a month ago with the breakdown of my results year by year and the final degree awarded but not any kind of conferring date (that i can remember, anyway) so not sure now if that'll suffice. fingers crossed it'll be grand (?)
best of luck to all the folks sitting the gamsat this week

Documents requireed for Graduate Medicine
You need to supply an original copy of your transcript for all years.
If you have graduated, you need to supply a certified copy of your degree parchment.
If you are finishing this year, when you get your results you need to send us a certified copy.
If you send us a Card/Stamped addressed envelope, we just stamp it and return it.
This just proves that whatever you sent in we received.
It does not state that the documents are what we require or that they are correct.
Hope this clears up any mis-understanding

So how does an applicant know if what he has submitted is what is required? ie. what proofreading mechanism is in place to ensure that the documents CAO receive are adequate in terms of requirement? Bit transparent if you ask me.

Graduate Medicine in Ireland
Hi Grant
On the CAO website under Entry to Medicine, if you click on Graduate medicine it tells you exactly what you need to send in:
• Applicants who have completed their first honours bachelor degree (NFQ Level 8) awarded must submit proof of their qualification by 15 March 2010. Supporting documentation must include a full original transcript (all years) and an official award showing evidence(e.g. certified copy of parchment) of conferring.
• Applicants who are completing their first honours bachelor degree (NFQ Level 8) awarded in 2010 must submit proof of their degree by 15 July 2010. If you are due to graduate in 2010 a full original transcript (all years) showing the final degree result will suffice. Applicants are advised to contact the Registry/Examinations Office of the University or Institute of Technology early to request these full transcripts.
• If your documentation is not in English, then an official certified translation in English must be provided at the same time.
So if you supply the above as requested, you can be farily sure that all is correct.
Nevertheless, the institutions will be reviewing the documents and they will contact you if they require any further clarification or documents.
Hope that clears it all upLast edited by CAOMAN; 26-03-2010 at 09:41 PM.

"certified copy of parchment"....I photocopied my degree parchment and had it stamped and signed at my local Garda station. Is this adequate to requirement? I didn't want to send my original parchment for obvious reasons and couldn't get any response from my college when I asked them for a certified copy.

Excellent, thanks for the clarification Caoman
Can you say how many graduate medicine applications CAO has received for 2010 entry or at least if there's an increase on last year's numbers? I remember last year's figure being somewhere in the region of 650 or something similar.UK applicant 2011
