Hello everyone,
up front I'd like to apologize if I post in the wrong category but I couldn' find one that suited better

As an international I started comparing different health systems (mainly German/UK and US) and started wondering which ones are "better" than others.

Maybe we could start a Thread and compare the different systems?

For starters:
The funding:
IN the UK (unlike other countries) the NHS is funded by tax deduction, in Germany there exists a social insurance, and in the US there (used to be) is no "compulsory" insurance at all...

Does it matter how the Health Systemis funded? In Germany you (have to) pay for your insurance from your gross wage (if you don't earn more than a certain amount of money and opt for privat insurance), in the UK the tax is deducted from your wage. As far as I see you don't really have a choice - or do you?

Second:
Private or Public
In Germany most services (apart from a few public hospitals) are privatly owned in the UK mostly public under the NHS.
The competition might be good (competition for value compared to price) but could resolve in lower quality in order to be able to compete at low prices. How much should the gouvernment interfere in the health service?

In the end does it matter how things are done as long as the states are able to offer "free" health service?

I'm a bit lost here
