oh.. nowadays, A&E is a specialty in Hong Kong, they have that college in HK too.
but seems that the licensing exam in HK is far too difficult.
I wanna work in HK too...

it is unlikely for me to return though, as HK doesn't really endorse clinical scientists as much.

Would everyone give me some advice on which uni to apply to? cos I don't have straight A's in my HKCEE lol (3A3Bs..) and B'ham+Manchester have told me my application will not be considered already even my AS grades are predicted straight As now!
btw.. can I choose to apply as home/int student?

stephu: have you considered applying back to HKU/CUHK? maybe worth a go given your CE score looks fine.
have you done UKCAT/BMAT etc.? you can decide your choices after you have received the results for them.
if you apply as home student you will need to prove it. otherwise they will put you as international.
good luck with your applications.2005: MBChB Medical Studies, Chinese University of Hong Kong (Quitted)

Thanks zhangyuzhi!
Yes I have considered applying to HKU/CUHK, however comparatively I would still prefer to study here, as the learning environment here gives me a better and more positive drive.
I will be taking the UKCAT this summer, and BMAT the coming November, I am actually considering IC too! Haha, sad enough though I wasn't quick enough to book a place on their open day but anyway I am still applying!

no worries stephu! given medical schools are bloody competitive these days if I were you I would simply apply to as many schools as possible. Not sure abt undergrad courses but for graduate entry ones in UK, this year King's got 1600+ applications for 23 places I think, and the number applying to Imperial one nearly doubled. but then I agree the learning environment here is better- that's why I came here at the first place.
no problem abt the open days. there are several each year and to be honest, they are pretty useless. if you have got any friends attending one of them, you might well ask them to ask the questions for you. =]

Hi guys! Sorry for this random post but I am going to reapply to medicine in 2011, if results come out alright on 19th August...I am quite confused on where I should apply to so can anyone suggest me any unis to apply to?... I listed my proposed choices in my signature but do you think they are balanced enough? I want to get into a medical school so much...Last year Imperial rejected me on the basis of BMAT (5.4 6.9 6.0) and I got 663.5 on UKCAT...I guess I need to improve on my essay section in BMAT and I need to get a higher mark in UKCAT if I want to increase my chances right?
I am not from HK but I am from Shenzhen...I guess it's quite close so I just count myself eligible to post here lol (I posted in this thread earlier I think)...Thank you very much in advance for your suggestions!!!Medicine A100 2011 Reapplicant - Non-EU
GCSEs & IGCSEs: 5A* 2A 1B
UKCAT: VR 620 QR 860 AR 840 DA 730 avg 762.5
BMAT: 3.8(What an epic fail) 7.4 4A
A2: Maths (A*), Further Maths (A), Chem (A*), Phy (A*), Bio (A*)
Choices:
Imperial College, London - Rejection?
GKT - Interview 08/02/2011
Sheffield - Interview 15/02/2011
Southampton - Interview 23/02/2011
Biochem C700 @ Imperial - Conditional on A2 Certs
Not the triumph, but the struggle.

zzj166: Are you getting your A2 results soon? If so they might give you an unconditional offer when you apply for 2011 entry whilst most others will have it conditional LOL.

I heard Sheffield wants 675 for UKCAT this year but this is not confirmed by any reliable source. Your UKCAT score looks good although you might already know the competition for med school places is getting crazier. I am not sure abt UCL coz it uses BMAT (which I hadn't done). Leicester seems to emphasize a lot on your clinical experience/community work.
btw what would be your insurance? That will be the other side of the balance
