whichever will take me as my lack of biology course is materialising into a real disadvantage...
Looking into Newcastle, bristol, manchester, leeds up till now - but might change my coices depending on my chances. I really need an option that is easier to get in - as a fall back. or take an access course.
I completed my IB already though, 4 years ago.
How about you?

I'm in my last year of IB (oh..the work load!)
I'm looking at Cambridge, UCL, Bristol and Birmingham. They're all very competitive so I'm a bit worried. I picked Biomedical sciences for the last option so hopefully that can be my "safe".

my highers are maths, biology, and chemistry (very science based i know..)
I'm doing my diploma in Taiwan, so the quota of 7.5% is really "the great challenge" to get through! On the bright side, schools are apparently valuing IB a lot more nowadays because they are starting to understand how 'intense' the diploma is.

I'm not an international student, but I got three offers HYMS, BSMS and Bristol and I only got 36 overall 7,6,6,6,5,5,1 (History H, Biology H, Chemistry H, English S, Maths S, Spanish S, +1TOK/EE). I know a lot more competitive for International applicants, but with 39 you stand a good chance. The average IB grades, what about 30?.

Hey, everyone!
Nice to see so many current and former-IB medics in one place.
I'm also a final year IB student who's applying to study Medicine.
I think I'm going for Bristol, Newcastle, probably BSMS and one of Dundee/UCL (or both, in which case I skip BSMS...)
Some advice - as you completed IB 4 years ago, check with Newcastle whether you're eligible to apply because I think they have a requirement in their admissions policy that you must have evidence of academic endeavour within the last 3 years. It would be sad for you to be rejected over such a trivial thing.... Good luck with your choices!
Oh, tell me about the work load... it's killing me softly
But it'll be worth it in the end and don't worry, you'll be fine. Good luck with your application!
Congrats on Bristol! It's an amazing place to live and study, and I'm hoping I'll join you there in 2010. Any advice on how to charm Bristol?
Btw, seeing as you applied to and received offers from both Bristol and BSMS - what were the interviews like, which was the toughest of the two?
Nice to see that you studied History, Biology and Chem at HL (same as me) - it's a fantastic combination to have IMO
!
And yeah, the world average is 30 or 31.

Bristol and BSMS were very similar, the typical sort of interview questions, Why medicine/a doctor/ not a nurse etc. Bristol seemed a bit more intense, they asked more science based questions about stem cells and things, but nothing to heavy, both panels were really nice. As for advice, you need to show them that you've got a good personality, (i.e that your: interesting, easy to talk to, have a sense of humour). Don't over prepare or your answers will look rehearsed, re-read your personal statement so your prepared for any question about it, pause and think before answering questions, don't rush into them etc. Part of what they look for in a Bristol interview is 'ability to cope with stress" which means they will ask you to state an opinion about a controversial situation. In my interview they asked me what I'd do if a co-worker at my hospital came to work drunk the day after his wife had left him, I said that I'd ring him a taxi and send him home. They like you to have an opinion, they might disagree and even argue with you, but stick to your arguments, they like that sort of thing.
Good luck, I'm sure you'll do fine, at my interviews there were loads of IB students, Medical schools love them.Bristol 2010, (applied for deferred entry 2009)
