You’ll get an offer. A couple of friends of mine got in with lower scores than you.

Hi I am very new to the forum and have just started IB. Can someone guide me as the best starting point to prepare for the UKCAT/BMAT and other formalities.
When and how many times does one give the exams?

Finally, I've found some other IB students!!
IB subjects- HL Biology, HL Chemistry, HL English, SL Maths, SL Spanish ab, SL History, Biology EE
Predicted grade- 42 to 44
How are your EEs going? I did mine in Bio and my supervisor said I should get a good mark, probably an A. But Ive seen some examples on the internet and they are amazing compared to mine... I don't feel confident about it at all now.
I don't have a signature so...
Cambridge (Jesus)- Acknowledged
Imperial College

Ib
You must be really good with such high predicted results.
We do our EE only next year. I plan to do it in Bio.
Can u suggest some websites I can browse other BIO essays.
I am thinking of topics which could help in my PS.
I have SL English but Literature isnt really my forte and any tips on IOP and Essays are always welcome.
Why did u not apply to Edinburgh or Dundee? How is Glasgow?
Some say Scotland is a better choice -whats your opinion?

Hi!
To tell you the truth, I think it is best to start your essay before you read examples because otherwise you'll find yourself unconciously trying to copy many things that they have done. For example, the layout or the evaluation, and really, it's best if it's your own style and work. But if you want to see some Bio examples, these are some chosen by the IB as Excellent Extended Essays: IBO Extended Essays
So you are applying for 2011 entry to Uni?
My PS, as Im sure many other people also found, was a nightmare to write. I ended up with 14 drafts in total. Some of them only changing one or two words, just to make it sound perfect. You will find that there are going to be so many differing views about what is a good personal statement, so do it your way, not the way your parents or your teachers want it!!
I messed up my IOP which is a shame. I am usually a really confident speaker, but the time limit threw me off and I rushed it a bit. I actually found the World Literature Essay quite interesting to write and was quite pleased with mine. I dont know what books you are studying though, so I cant really give any suggestions...
I didnt apply to Scotland because I just didnt want to go to Scotland. Possibly the idea of bad weather also influenced my decision =). Plus my family all live in England so it will be easier to go and visit them if Im at Uni in England.

You didn't want to go to Scotland? :O If I had the choice I'd live in Scotland (or Wales) anyday over England (and I am english by the way). Edinburgh is my favorite city in the world, I'd love to go uni there but unfortunately I can't. How could you not like Edinburgh although the family thing I understand. If you think the bad weather's a problem then I'm assuming you're (or your family) is from southern England lol?

Well, actually I did really want to apply to Edinburgh. But because I was already definetely applying to Cambridge and Imperial College I thought it was best not to apply there as well. They all have such high entrance requirements and I wanted some "back-up" choices. And I didn't like any of the other Scottish unis for Medicine. Actually no, haha, my family isn't from the South. But personally, I havent ever lived in England. It's been Africa and central Europe for me!! I now live in Slovakia where we have really hot summers and winters with tons of snow. So I am kind of picky about the weather =)
So where have you applied to??Last edited by sradoja; 19-11-2009 at 11:14 PM.

Well, when I say I haven't ever lived in England I mean, I haven't ever been to school in England. Because technically I live there but just go to school abroad...

Ah okay then yeah your right in not picking Edinburgh although they say those who don't get into oxbridge get into Edinburgh. lol sounds like Canada. It's freezing cold here at the moment and it's 17 degrees in England where I live!! it's so unfair the weather was never like that when I lived there.
Lol I applied to KCL, Barts, Keele and Leicester. (Last year I applied to Cambridge, Manchester, Keele and St Andrews). So what's your last choice then?
