Graduate Entry Programs (A101)
Hi,
I am a canadian with an Honours BSc degree from the University of Toronto.
I emailed Birmingham, and they said that they do not accept international students into their Graduate entry program.
I was wondering which UK medical universities allow Canadians/International students to apply for the 4-year Graduate entry program (A101)?

Can't believe no one replied, even though 200+ views on your question.

Not a whole lot of schools accept international students, but I'm glad someone here is in the same boat as me.

I'm doing it on October 6th. I'm sure there might be more universities that accept international students for GEP (at least I hope so!), but from that site that you posted, there's only 4! Well, let me know what your choices will be....are you also planning to write the MCAT?

I hate the UKCAT... what are your thoughts on it?
I have taken the MCAT already, but I don't know if I should use my score to send.
Well, my current choices are Liverpool, Newcastle, Southampton, and KCL. I'm considering Leeds and Bristol. What are your choices?
I'm also debating which to apply as an undergraduate and which to apply as a graduate. I don't know man, the UK schools are so expensive. I'm leaning more towards Ireland medical schools. You should look into that if you haven't already! Applications are due in November.

OMG....I hate the UKCAT too (some of it is all luck and why do they have such a small time limit?!).
My choices will depend on my UKCAT score, and whether they have a GPA cut off (although my clinical experience is AWSOME, my GPA isn't bad, but its not the greatest - around 3.27- so i'm thinking of emaling them later on).
You have 4 choices - so I would suggest applying to 1-2 GEP programs, but if you do poor on your UKCAT, who cares if you apply to the regular programs (there's many more uni options that don't require the UKCAT for the 5 year program) - i'd rather spend 5 years in school, than not getting in anywhere and fretting over that one year doing ending up nowhere!
I was considering Ireland too, but haven't looked up into that as yet! Thanks for all the advice. What about the caribbean, do you not want to apply there?
Oh, do you know what the process is for sending in highschool and university transcripts and references? Do we send it directly to the universities?

Yeah, I feel the same way.
Abstract reasoning (my poorest section) - purpose is to see if we can recognize and detect patterns because as a physician, we might encounter unknown viruses and bacteria and need to rely on finding out a pattern. Well, UKCAT, you know what? It doesn't mean that we can't recognize patterns if we can't find the relationship between those circles, triangles and arrows on the paper. Haha
I was thinking about the Caribbean, Ross and St. Andrews', but I don't know..not high up there on priority.
Yes I did directly send unofficial, electronic copies of my transcripts to the universities. Let me warn you though, it can take anywhere from 3 days to 12 days to hear back from them..
But the part I'm most confused about is...what happens after that? I mean, I did get the OK from some schools to apply, and some said I'm not eligible. But for the schools that gave me the OK, are they supposed to remember my transcripts when they receive my UCAS application? There is nowhere on the application to input my courses (I have a Bachelors degree with honors), so I don't have any A levels or GCSEs or whatever. I have a Pre-Med background, in addition to my degree, but the only place on the UCAS that I can mention it is the personal statement, and even then they won't know the grades I got..
So yeah...that is where I am right now, kinda stumped. And stressed because deadline is coming up.

Same scenario for me.....I want to submit my highschool and university transcripts as well. Perhaps, in the personal statement, we can add a line in the end, saying that the transcripts and other material have already been sent via email?
Also, for the reference that we need, is the referee supposed to write a reference for us and we copy and paste it onto UCAS? If so, that's pretty dumb, cuz anyone can change things around and where is the referee's signature then?
Let me know how you're going to go about with this.....perhaps we can call UCAS?
For Caribbean, try the top 4 - Saba, Ross, SGU, and AUA i think. Saba doesn't require the MCAT, so you might have a shot at that!

Hmmm...good catch on the reference part.
On the UCAS website FAQ section, they list 2 ways to do it:
1) You copy paste the reference or
2) Give your log-in details to your referee and they do it
I did #2.
But you are right, there is no verification either way....I will call UCAS on Sunday night (their monday morning) and ask about that.
I hope I made it clear what my qualifications were in my personal statement lol, but maybe UCAS can clarify on that part more...
