Calling All Canadians Applying For 2010!
Hey guys,
I know many Canadians apply to UK med schools each year. So I thought we could get an idea of how many of us are applying and from where.
1) Where are you from?
2) Where are you applying?
3) What % range are you in (e.g. 80-85, 85-90, 90-95)
4) Any advice you have or any info you can offer regarding Canadians applying to UK schools.
1) Edmonton, Alberta
2) I'm thinking Hull and York, Birmingham, East Anglia, and Leicester (not sure abt this one though)
3) See, I was super confused about how to calculate this for UCAS so I took my three years of sciences and a language (got ~90) cause they wanted the % of the entire high school diploma
4) Manchester doesn't accept Canadian qualifications and Queen Mary's doesn't accept anything from Canada except OACs (of course, IB is accepted everywhere)

There was another thread involving canadian applicants... but i think it died... hopefully this one doesn't meet the same fate any time soon...
1) Toronto, Ontario
2) Warwick GEP, Leicester (5), Nottingham (5), Newcastle (5)
3) i'll have a full undergrad degree, so gpa = approx. 3.7 on that brutal OMSAS scale... doubt HS matters much since it was so long ago but 85-90
4) will edit if i think of anything...

Hey! Kam14, are you applying for A101 program? What was your UKCAT score?
Can someone pls let me know which universities canadians can apply to for the graduate entry 4 year MbChb?....Some universities just don't accept international students for this program.
Thanks in advance

only warwick is a 4 year grad entry program (GEP), rest are 5 year A100's. My UKCAT score is 650. Universities worth looking into for 4 yr GEP for internationals are: warwick, southampton, barts, and imperial as far as i know. Most schools are explicit in their course description in that they don't take internationals for A101 but you can also email a few that you're interested in to find out for sure.

Leicester and Bristol are a no for international GEP medicine. I emailed them a few months ago to enquire.

1) Just outside of Vancouver, BC
2)King's, Dundee and unsure of other 2, possible Leicester, Nottingham or Glasgow, open to other suggestions
3) Gr 11 average was about 97% and my predicted grades for this year average to about 95%
4) No advice, but I do have a question. For the BC high school diploma, I've added Gr 10, 11 and 12 courses (that's what appears on a BC transcript) and their marks (obviously excluding Gr 12, but my referee will enter the predicted ones). Is that all we do, just enter the percent we got in each class into the mark section?

1) Toronto, Ontario

3) OAC = 88%
Hon BSc = 3.27
4) Although UCAS may be a pain in the but, it is a lot easier than OMSAS!!
