Any Canadian applying to UK?
I'm currently in grade 11 in Toronto, Canada and will be applying this October for UK. I'm planning to sit the UKCAT. I was wondering if anyone from Canada got accepted in a UK uni. If yes, did you apply during your grade 12 year? (I will apply in Oct. 2009 but i graduate in June 2010). Also what were your UKCAT scores? Which uni did you apply to? And any other info that you think might be helpful for me to know?
Thanks a ton in advance!

I will be applying to UK medical schools for September 2010 entry. I already have a 4 year Honours BSc and finishing up a Masters of Science right now. I will be focusing on GEP (4 year). I met a guy on this website from Calgary who got into Imperial College London for medicine. He got in with his grade 12 marks. It is certainly not out of reach. Good luck!

hi, i did ib- when i applied last year i was pretty sure most if not all uk unis didn't accept ossd because they said it's not equivalent to the a-level qualifications that the students do in the uk. if that is the case then, unfortunately, they won't take you with the ossd, so you may want to look into some extra courses or something that you can take in summer/next year that will make up for the difference. if you have some unis in mind then contact them directly asap and ask them.
you have the timeline right tho, apply in around oct 2009, graduate in june 2010. i sat the ukcat in late sept- i don't think schools weigh it very heavily at allI'm normally not a praying man, but if you're up there, please save me, Superman

Different schools use the UKCAT results differently, some use it as a first screening tool others use it last to differentiate two equal candidates, never get into the habit of thinking one part of your application is less important than others, just do your absolute best to hand in the best application you can, and choose schools that focus more on things you did extremely well....either grades, UKCAT or P.S. etc.
Good luck.
I got in after doing a Bachelor of Med. Lab Sci at uni but when St Andrews saw my regular high school grades they were impressed enough. And St Andrews accepts internationals without interview.Applicant 2009
St Andrews - declined after much deliberation so...
