I am only applying to GEP universities: KCL, Warwick, Oxford, and Southampton? Still deciding on the final four. Will see what to do when I do my UKCAT in August.

For Oxford, don't you need the BMAT?
I've chosen two: St Andrews and Leciester. Still haven't decided the remaining two.
I'm doing the UKCAT this september.
How are you preparing for it?

I already did my UKCAT and got 650... friggin AR screwed me big time haha... because of this score I'm not gonna apply to all GEP programs since (as I understand) they want a high UKCAT, so I'm goin for Warwick GEP, leicester 5yr, newcastle 5yr and one more still to be determined.
I believe oxford GEP only needs UKCAT, but the standard program needs BMAT (but you should check that out to be sure).
I didn't do much UKCAT prep to be honest... too busy with work, for me the key to the whole test is speed. practice enough such that you can divise a strategy to get through the questions as quickly (and correctly) as possible.
ps. arsasyed... you said that you are applying with grade 12 marks? Did you check leicester's website? they say they accept OAC grades, but don't mention if grade 12 is equivalent to that (they updated their criteria for degrees lol, but i guess they forgot to check that OACs don't exist any more
)... make sure you e-mail them to find out if they accept grade 12 as qualifications or you'll be wasting 1/4 of ur application spots. St. Andrews on the other hand has no problem with grade 12 marks

Oh thanks for letting me know. Another friend of mine told me to apply to Leciester. I never checked their website out though. I will email them ASAP.
Thanks for the advice for the UKCAT. I'll try to keep that in mind.
Good luck with your application!

Hi, nice to meet everyone

I'm a Canadian from Alberta, and applied after grade 12, and did one year of uni.. I got accepted into Southampton, Leicester, and East Anglia, but ended up picking leicester at the end, so will hopefully be there this september...
They're not too intense on the ukcat, but give you points according to your score, so it's definitely worth doing well on it... I prepped for it by doing as many timed practice exams I could find on the website, and practiced working under pressure
lol, and btw, AR totally screwed me over too
Best of luck on your applications guys! =D

Hey everyone!
I know this thread is quite old, but hopefully someone can help me out
I'm about to go into gr.12 and have already started planning my UCAS app, but I'm extremely worried about being an international student. Turns out a lot of Canadians have gotten in previously though (good job btw haha). Just wondering, for those of you who got in straight after high school, what were your marks like, esp. gr. 11 and 12?
I think I screwed my self over: in grade 9 I slacked and just made honor roll, grade 10 I tarted working a little harder, grade 11 was okay (84/85 average) and grade 12 I'll be a complete nerd
Unfortunately my gr.12 bio mark is just under what most unis want (81 compared to minimum 85), do you guys think they will throw my application out right away? Should I upgrade my mark? (but even if I do that, will they consider it since I will be putting my bio mark on my UCAS?)
Sorry for the long post and thanks!

Hey!
My average throughout high school was around 94%.
You shouldn't worry about grade 9 & 10 AT ALL because when you apply, you only have to apply based on your grade 11 marks and if you get an offer, the conditions they give you are for your grade 12 marks.
Regarding updating, I'm not quite sure how that works with the universities. Your best bet would be to email them directly and explain your situation, and ask whether updated marks would be considered or not. Your transcript does get handed in to the university and as far as Ive known, repeated courses show up on the transcript.
I hope this helps. If anything else, send me a private message and I'll reply back.
Good luck!!2010 Canadian High School Applicant
