I live in Dubai am a senior in the american school. I'm EU so I dont count as international. But I'm taking AP's not A levels. I haven't heard much from my uni's except I got an offer from Queen Mary. Hey I have a question though. If we get interviews do you have to fly to the UK? That might get a bit costly if they arent all around the same time!
Medicine:
BSMS - zilch
Southampton - Unsuccessful without interview
Sheffield - Confirmation (asked for grades)
Barts and The London QMUL - Interview 3/18!!!!
Queen Mary - Biomedical Science - OFFER!!!
3 4's on AP's

the universities are not very well established.
dubai as city has only been around for about 8 years, 10 max.
compared to british or US unis that have been around for about a 200 years or so.
and i too am a EU student, and yes we have to fly over for the interview, if you have 4 interviews you probably have to make them so they are in a week or 2 gap, its a bit daunting having four interviews in 10 days or so, but better than paying 500quid four times.

oh okay, but then why just UK unis? Why not Australian? or Canadian? or US? .... and not all UK med schools are so old - isn't Leicster around 30 years old or so?
I don't mean to sound bitchy/nosy, sorry! I just kinda always wondered why there are so many international students nowadays, compared to 4/5 years ago.الله أكبر

When I lived there, I had to fly twice for two interviews. It depends how much you want the place really...for me, they called, and I picked up the phone for my travel agent.
Because as an EU student, the fees are dirt cheap
Go to Australia, pay international student. Canada, same deal. America...get a degree first, then do grad entry medicine!
I'm a Brit so there wasn't really a question of where to go...my family and home are here, wouldn't make sense to go anywhere else really.

But apart from yourself, all other applicants from Dubai/UAE won't be counted as EU students... but as internationals.
Either way, good luck!الله أكبر

Exactly!! I was wondering if he's a UK citizen..with an asian/middle east look?? If that's the case..wouldn't it be pathetic for him to discriminate his own race just because he managed to get the citizenship in UK..? No offense if this isn't true.

Guys, I honestly don't think he meant it seriously. It was probably a joke that's come across all wrong because it's online and not face-to-face!
