Chemistry :(
I'm not sure where to put this but I hope this is the right section.
I'm from Sweden and am doing the IB and I really want to study medicine in the UK but there is one major thing that currently stands in the way - chemistry.
Most schools require Biology and Chemistry at HL whereas I only have Bio at HL and then Chemistry at SL. I always had it hard in chemistry but keep try because my dream is to become a doctor but sometimes it feels as if chemistry is the one which ruins my dream.
My grades aren't that fab either. I am working hard, I really am. This year before the exams, I will put my everything I can and know into it to get a good result, aka over 35 points but you never know. Also, my application is sent through predicted and I don't think my teachers who will put those invidually are that faithful in me and there is a chance that I will have a low prediction grade
Do you think that there is any chance at all for me to get in? Peninsula is currently the only brightest hope for me since they don't require chemistry and have their minimum at 31 but still, what about other schools?
I've been thinking about foundation but I know the competition can be even higher there with less places and then some might not accept me since I already have two sciences, even though one is at standard level.

I think UEA (university of east anglia) doesnt require a-level chemistry so maybe that would stand for the IB too ?
where are you from in sweeden ? I was in stockholm last year staying with my cousin and it was a-w-e-s-o-m-e .... sweeden is beautiful !

Hiya!
I'm from Italy and I've just finished a scientific high school in which you study lots of maths and physics along with a bit of chemistry, biology, earth sciences and a load of non-scientific stuff like history, philosophy, latin (?!), Italian and English and a few other things.
I have just finished going through the application process and am glad to say I got a place in Manchester (with foundation year though).
Having asked the admissions dean in Sheffield and Edinburgh what I should apply for, Sheffield said "go for medicine directly" and Edinburgh said "apply for what you want and we will decide what to put you in for". So, I applied for medicine without foundation year in Edinburgh and Sheffield, and with foundation year in Cardiff and Manchester.
Moral: I got straight rejections in Edinburgh and Sheffield and interviews and offers in both Cardiff and Manchester.
Now, is that any help?

Hej
Jag känner till en tjej som gick på IB i stlm och hade inte läst kemi b tror jag, och kom in på UCL, så jag tror det beror på skolorna. Därför råder jag dig att kolla upp hur deras kritirier ser ut. Lycka till
