old questions that won't dye: financing for int. std!
i have read threads about this most important topic for international students who dream of studying abroad and yet can't afford to.
for those who have got offers to med schools, this is an even more pressing issue.
i'm still unable to find a secure way to finance my studies. i'm from brazil originally and am contacting agencies over there and abroad to find out whether i can find a loan system that will trust me enough to allow me to borrow money to pay for medical school.
scholarships seem to me to be just too uncertain of a method and i believe that first i must find a way to finance my studies that i can count on, then i'll try to reduce my debt through scholarships.
i found that http://www.globalslc.com/ does offer loans to people from certain countries to certain schools, but not for UK schools! i requested whether we could speak to universities to have them register with them so they could be supported, but it seems that this is an agency that is still growing, trying to reach out to other schools. so there could be hope for us, however, this is obviously not good enough. As far as i know, this is the only and first agency that allows int. students, on their own account, finance their studies without the need of co-signers or US citizenship, residency, etc..
IF YOU KNOW OF ANY OTHER PLEASE POST. Since I am trying to do this by acquiring loans (not scholarships), therefore there is no competition here. I feel extremely lonely in this journey so I think we must unite our brains and push a way through. It probably wouldn't hurt to email global student loan corporation requesting that UK schools get entered into their system, or even your preferred school for that matter.
good luck to us all.... how could the place you are born have such bearings in our ability to finance our dreams??

Hi there,
This site might help you <http://www.iefc.com/us/index.php?Cid=0015>. but they only give out loans if you're going to a certain school on this list they provide. Good luck. I know how it sucks not to have enough funding...

thanks. the site you listed does include most UK medical schools. However, to get loans through this agency, ones needs an US citizen/resident as a co-signer.
I still have found no bank willining to offer loans to international studs. on their own account, unless they are US residents/citizens or have a US resident/citizen as a co-signer.
