hey,
I was just wondering if there are any financial aid or scholarships for international students? i've gotten a place in medicine in one of the universities.. but school fees are rather high... so was wondering if any organisations in UK offer scholarships to international students???
Oooh, why the secrecy? What university did you get accepted to?
There are no government funded bodies that give financial aid to international students - it's hard enough to fund home students! Check with the university you were accepted in to, as policy on international student aid varies greatly across the board. Browse the website, then call the financial office if you don't find what you're looking for. For a subject like medicine, it will be particularly difficult, but I'm sure that if you're that determined, you'll get what you need!

It's worth contacting the university because they should be aware of any support available to you. I know that the fees are very expensive for international students and I doubt whether any UK-based grants or scholarships would make a signicant impact. Some international students are sponsored by their Governments in return for promising to work in their native countries for a certain period. I'm not sure if that would apply in your case, but worth a shot.
heya everyone
i am in exactly the same situation....i got an offer from King's College MBBS
but due a change in circumstances...its gotten a little bit too expensive
ive been advised to write to big company's to see if they'll sponsor me...

Hey everyone,
I've been in this postion for about a year and a bit now. I got accepted for 2005 entry to King's College, but had to defer it to 2006. Therefore, i've been searching for funds since this time last year!!! It is really really difficult. I mean even yur own government may find it difficult to sponsor you due to the excessively high costs. And i don't mean to dampen yur spirits or n e thing, but most universities don't offer more than 2000 of the required 20+ grand per year. And i so badly wanted to come to Kings!!!! but hey, maybe I'm just unlucky- you being from a different part of the world may just have some more luck!!! I'm from da caribbean by da way.
take look on the university websites. They should have sponserhips from people e.g. from hong kong. However, this does not cover people reading medicine. A pity......but true.
i'm in very much the same situation as all of u. Got an offer from bham but now have to find the money to pay the hefty fees. I'm from the Seychelles btw.
I dunno about other universities but take Bristol as an example, the school offers scholarship up to 2,000 pounds for international students and you may also get a few more thousands from alumni scholarship of your own country.
I'm in the same situ! Was called for an interview at Kings..couldn't go because it was just too expensive and I already had an offer from Leeds to study Medicine, which was cheaper. Still expensive though! My govvy won't sponsor me..I'm from Botswana.
I've not got mine yet but I phoned today to ask for feedback and before I even got a chance to ask for anything the guy said...'we ask you to wait for your letter that should arrive sometime next...
I had an offer from leicester which was aab with an a in chem and i got abb (b in bio and B in chem) and they deferred my place to 2010, I guess I impressed them at interview but I have no idea how
