    hey guys.

Generally (exlcuding medical applicants) international students for a variety of courses are used to pump in funds into the university. Universities make money out of your guys.

As for medicine, the tution fees are much higher than other courses for internationals. I cannot believe you people did not calculate the finances prior to applying succesfuly for medicine in uk. Who told you that you would be able to get some kind of financial package/legal aid here? As already mentioned here, the scolorships are nothing compared to what your going to pay overall per year.

Most foreign students have a lot of cash that they need disposing (from wealthy families). Others manage to get loans from parent country. But, I guess, your all the unfortunate ones who thought there was somekind of legal aid in UK, a bit like american institutions. There isnt.

    hey everyone.
just wanted to get this going again. anyone hear anything new on this great topic. so far, i have only found that searching through university's websites you might find some scholarships you would be eligible to. nevertheless, we still need to secure funding and probably make sure we can pay for most if not all of the 5 years in school.

i'm sorry pushpalatha. i didn't mean to change topics.
i am not sure about funding for the usmle exams but am curious to hear what you find out.
by the way, have you been taking them along with med school or are planning on taking them all at once?

Without damping anyone's mood, one of the conditions of being an overseas student is to be able to support yourself financially without having to rely to some UK based help. It is extremely hard and near enough impossible to get anyone to pay £20k for an international medical student. Anyways goodluck in searching but i can assure u there is nothing much out there.

it is true that it is difficult to get funding for tuition, let alone living and housing expenses while in medical school in the UK. however, i have a feeling we don't have a full grasp on what all of our possibilities are (perhaps THAT is impossible).
i realize there are scholarships for international students many of which would cover a portion of the cost of education. another option is to look for help through one's own governament and embassy. there is also the opportunity to gain sponsorphip from large companies.
it would be nice to hear from someone who has done it, who was capable of getting funding other than through loans or family income.
